Forget the Scotchbrite pad. All I got with it was dull. Get some wet/dry sandpaper in 150,. 220, 320, 600, 800, and 1000 grit. With that, get some automotive polishing cream and a can of MacGuiars paste wax. Mix up a little Dawn dish soap in water and "flood" the area to be repaired. Work each grit with fresh water, cleaning off after each. Use the polishing cream (NOT rubbing compound) per instruction on the bottle and follow with the paste wax. A little elbow grease and the counter should be good or gooder than new.
