We are heading south the end of March and looking for suggestions for campgrounds near Charleston, SC area that would accommodate a 30' travel trailer and a 35' fifth wheel. We are hoping to possibly get over to Savannah, GA area but not sure. Thanks.

A nice commercial campground south of Charleston on Hwy 17 is called The Oak Plantation Campground. We stay there yearly on the way down to Edisto Beach State Park. Also the Charleston County operated park James Island County Park is good but only has a couple of full hook-ups sites, mostly water and power. Coming in off of I-26 in the Ladson area is a KOA park but we haven't stayed there.

James Island County Park is FHU except for six sites - outstanding choice but make reservations ASAP.

Didn't know James Island had upgraded to mostly full hook-ups. We stayed there a couple of years ago and they had only about half a dozen full hooks and less than that for 50 amp service. 90% of the park was 30 amps with only W/E. We had to stay on a 30 amp service site. Not sure we will go back with our new rig because of the road heading down into the park pulling a 42' camper. Now it's a great place to visit during the Festival of Lights after Thanksgiving. With family in the area, we go regularly to see it. It's Fantastic :)

+1 on both Oak Plantation and James Island county park. both very nice. If you continue to savannah check out skidaway island state park, it s a beautiful park right on the beach but camping is all in the woods.

We spent 2 months at the KOA in Mount Pleasant. Great campground and they a have shuttle that goes into town Thursday thru Sunday. We've also stayed at the Oak Plantation, it's also a little further from town

We stayed at Mt Pleasant twice and found it very nice. There is a small rustic restaurant north about 7 miles called the Seewee, has the best Shrimp and Grits we found in the area.
Your not far from Shem Creek where there are a number of restaurants and also Patriots Point where you can tour the Yorktown and also get the boat tour to Fort Sumter,
also close to the Boone Hall Plantation, which is a very nice tour and walk around?
