Tire Infllators

What seems to be the forum consensus on emergency 12 volt tire inflators? Have been loking at the Black & Decker and the Slime. The Viair looks pretty good but more than I want to spend. Looking for something under $100.00

I have a 12 volt one for my air bags but the chances of it ever blowing up a truck tire to 65 lbs or a trailer tire to 110 are next to none. You would be looking at a lot more money than that for an onboard system. For 110 volts a typical pancake compressor does mine fine but that only works if you have power. On the road just make sure your spare is good or you have ERS

I have the Goodyear i7000 12 volt. Not as good as a 120 compressor . However, I have used it several times and it has done a good job. I had a slow leak and tire would go down to about 73 psi . It only took a short time to get back to 80 psi. Very quite and will not disturb anyone.

I have the Black and Decker. A little slow, but for fifty bucks you can't go wrong. It inflates my Goodyear G-614's to 110 no problem.

Peace

As a follow-up...I bought one of the Black and Decker Air Stations at Lowes for $49.97. Tried it this morning and it worked just fine. Was not real fast but it got the 614's up to 110 PSI just fine. The cords are very short. The unit will need to be sitting right next to the valve stem! I made a 12v extension cord with battery clips that makes it a little easier to use.

Happy Camping!

I use a 110v pancake unit powered by my invertor that I use to to run the frig while traveling. The invertor is mounted in the basement backing up to the battery compartment. I use a 50' air hose and it reaches the truck and trailer wheels.
