tire size and what sizes can change to use same rims

Just bought a truck with 33x12.5r17 tires and they rub when wheel is turned, Looking for ideas as to what tire size i and can go to to gain the most clearance but still use the current rims on the truck. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look inside the driver's door for a sticker that tells you what tire size came with the vehicle. Or look in the owners manual.

yeah, did that. original size was 16's ,some one put aftermarket 17 inch rim and tires. Trying to find out what is the smallest profile of tire i can use with the existing aftermarket rims. Thanks

What brand/year of truck do you have?? A lot of newer trucks are coming with 17" rims.

Check with your tire dealer, they have charts that list tire dimensions, overall height, section width, etc.. You can compare the OE size with other tire sizes. If you know the brands of tires you're interested in, you can find the charts on the manufactures website as well.

Check with a reputable tire dealer. Sometimes tires of larger sizes are the same height and width of smaller sized tires. It really depends on the height of the side wall. An example is the G614 is a 16" tire but the G114 is a 17.5" tire and they are approximately the same height because of the difference in the sidewall height. Some folks do not understand tire differences and go crazy when they claim they have 17s of 20s on their truck. Tire dealers can help you with this. Tire width also has alot to do if a tire will 'fit' on a particular vehicle. Could be you can still go with the 17" rim but with a narrower tire to make it work without rubbing. Keep in mind carrying capacity of the tire and the rim when changing them out.
