I now have another 3 inch tear in our topper awing.I think what is happening I am retracting the slide
with water captured on the awning.Both tears are above the ends of trim screws that I think are
coming in contact with the awning when retracting with water weight.I cut the screws and will not
retract a slide before draining the water.Now I will replace the awning and start over.

You can replace just the fabric, it's not a hard job. I've done a few over the years. Never had a problem with water but the wind will tear them up.

Replacing just the fabric is all that is required.I will have to investigate the replacement procedure Thanks
