tri glide owners

I have talked to a couple people that have clearance issues with the tri glide and I'm getting torn between getting it because of that. Can I get some input from those who have it and make me rest easier one way or the other. I have an 07 Dodge Mega cab and the standard 16K Reese hitch. The Rally promo on the Tri Glide seems to be a good deal, but it wouldn't be if I tear up my truck or trailer because of low clearance to the bed rails.
Thanks in advance,
Bobby A

I have one on our BC and 05 Chevy, no clearance problems. Just make sure you give them your vin # when ordering or the number on your pin box. They did ask for both when I ordered.

Bill, is your Trail Air the long or short version? Ours is the long version an I have clearance problems but only with the frame rails of my tonneau cover. I'm not sure if I removed the tonneau frame if I might still have the problem but it seems it would be less likely with the shorter T.A.
I could raise the hitch a hole but I'm nose high on the trailer already.

Ray mine is the long version I think the short ones could be the problem. John just had one put on his last week and it is the long snout. I have a Extang Express tonneau on mine and so for no problems. I will have to check but I think my Curt is in the bottom hole, will have to look. Memory is tough on old people.

Ray, we did have the long pin installed in PA last weekend. Today we lowered the hitch one hole because we were slightly nose high. We had about 8 inches between the bed rails and the trailer so we had room to move it down. We haven't hooked it up yet to see if this would be a better set up but will let you know how we make out!

Anyone who is considering if this investment is worth the benefit.....

We have been hauling 5th wheels for about 7 years and have never had such a smooth ride as the one home from PA.

IMHO it is worth every penny!

I have a Curt Q-5 in an 07 GMC Classic. The hitch is set at its lowest and I have the short Trail Air with Tri Glide. So far I have not had a problem.
Bobby, the Tri Glide is awesome.

Peace
Dave

I'm putting a Tri-Glide on when I'm at the rally. I have a Super Glide in the truck that has no height adjustments. My old pinbox has one more set of holes to raise it up higher. I have enough clearance right now but nothing extra on my bedrails. I figure I will put the Tri-Glide in the highest set of holes on the trailer. I have heard the Tri-Glide will sit about about 2 inches lower than a std pinbox. Moving it up one hole on the trailer should compensate for that. Sound right?...Don

Don, you are correct. The install instructions state to raise the tri-glide up one hole to compensate for the added glide plate.

Do you have the adapter plate you will need with the Tri Glide?

You only need an adapter if you have a Pullriite Super Glide Hitch, since you have the Reese there is no problem. Don't know why he threw that plate question at ya.......Kenny
