Un-Happy with Mid-Year changes to Bighorn 3010RE

Being the proud and very happy original owners of our Bighorn 3055RL since ordering it in September 2007, we have decided that the time has come to replace it with a new Heartland product. So after looking at practically ever other manufactures 5th wheel units for the past several months, we decided on the 2013 3010RE. We were ready to submit our last week for a new 2013 3010RE when we stopped today at one more dealer that had a 2013 3010RE built in August 2012. This unit had several significant changes that have us reconsidering our decision to stay with the Heartland brand.

Heartland has implemented several very significant changes to the 2013 3010RE that are not reflected in either their website or their (5/12) brochure that we consider are 'deal breakers'. If we had placed our order last week without seeing this unit that was built in August 2012, could you imagine our surprise and dissapointment in the unit we had ordered? Heartland spends hundreds of thousands of dollars implementing these build changes - why couldn't they have spent several thousand dollars updating their website with these bulid changes?

While these changes maybe the way the industry is moving they are not what is reflected in the information that is available to your customers.

- Conter tops are now dark black instead of the lighy tan as reflected on Heartlands website

- Dining Table Chairs & Folding Chairs now have wood backs that are no longer padded cloth covered backs with the same material as the seats

- Kitchen Island was 62" while the August 2012 build measures 72"

As you probably can tell I am not enamored with these changes that have been made in mid-year. So the question I have for 'Ask the Factory' is CAN THESE CHANGES BE AN OPTION AND NOT A FORCED CHANGE?

Call the factory and speak with the Bighorn brand manager, he may be able to help you out.

You might want to start shopping the internet for a unit built with the previous decor and counter. It hasn't been that long since the change was made. If you move quickly you may find exactly what you want.

Ours came with things we did not expect. Dealer made some things right like swapping dinette chairs from one on the lot. But some changes were better and they offset the ones we did not like. Take another look and see if that isn't the case and you may decide you like the changes.

We were just at the factory yesterday, and saw two new coaches. They had new brochures that were printed last month, and the bathroom layouts shown in the new brochuires didn't match the built coaches already. They are making alot of changes on the fly these days. All new big horns have glossy sides stad...not an option anymore. Plus LED's are in and halogens are out for interior lighting. All new big horns and big countrys have darker woods stains, and floor vynil as well. Plus the fron caps are painted different, and the graphics are also new as well.

Seaulayter,Sorry but most of these items cannot be reverted back. Your best bet may be to simply ask your dealer to work with Heartland to see what the plant can and cannot do. Time is of the essence however. If timing on your end for a new coach is immediate, than you'll have a better chance of getting of possibly getting the old way back as we may have some stock remaining of some of the older items. As each day ticks way, we get farther away from being able to do anything.Best of luck to you in whatever coach decision you make.

As others have said, many if not most times, these changes although a surprise are usually better.
If you are set on having it a certain way, I would check out existing dealer stock.
After only a few months there maybe dealers sitting out there with the unit you are looking for. Good luck, Trace
