Upgrading Tires on Elkridge E289

In the process of taking delivery o new rig. Comes with D rated tires. The only E rated tires in 15"I could find were Tow Max ST225/75/R15. Are there others? Should be stouter than the D rated tires on it. Other option is to go with 16 inch wheels. Might be my best option since it would raise the TT to make a more level tow with my Ram 4X4. They sit 2 " taller than Ford and Chev. This rig will only weigh about 9500# so the E rated tires should be safer with less chance of failure. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

And your wheels will be rated for 80lbs. I had 15' ST tires and they were junk. Went with LTs with 7 years of service with no more blowout.

Don't get the Towmax tires . . . also known as 'BlowMax' amongst the fellow trailer pullers out there!

Do a search here and read all about them!

Have a look at the Firestone Transforce HT or AT tires!

I plan on replacing the BlowMaxes that came on my trailer with the HT's!

Tow Max tires have been known to blow out even when just mounted as a spare not even on the road...There is only one ST tire that has a good reputation, that is the Maxxis. None of the others have held up very well....Don
