We are interested, but its too soon for us to know for sure yet. I'm not out for vacation until 3/19 at around 4pm which would have us getting there pretty late that night and we don't know what else we are doing that next week yet. I'll let you know as soon as we figure it out.

12-01-2009, 01:08 AM
Kristy, we're in the same boat for Winchester. Heading to Texas in July, trying to work out vacation time and money. Looks like we might be able to swing it, but will have to drive like Lori and Brent to do it. LOL Straight up and straight back, 8 hours at a time.
Will know in a week or so.

12-01-2009, 02:19 PM
DW called KOA on the 800 number listed and was told they had no group reservations for March.

12-01-2009, 02:28 PM
Sorry about that, Just confirmed the dates with Stephanie yesterday, so probably don't have it out to the rest of the employees yet. I would ask for her, and tell them you are with the Heartland group and Debra Duryee. They have set aside 10 sites so far for us, but not as a "group reservation" per se.
Also, for everyone, when you make reservations, please PM me with your email address and contact information so I can send any details or changes and make sure everyone gets them.

12-01-2009, 11:56 PM
I'm hoping we can make it, especially since New Years isn't working out so far (could change, but don't know yet).
Hope you can make it to Winchester too. What will I do without my day after rally relaxation experts? Neither you nor Marybeth has booked yet.

12-02-2009, 06:07 AM
Well as long as my health holds up, we would love to come to this rally and maybe pick up bram and sherry arnold on the way up. We missed you guys in Buellton so we will make reservations tomorrow after we figure out the logistics. Debbi sends her regards to all her new RV friends.

Big Al and Donna
12-02-2009, 11:15 AM
Too soon to tell but Donna and I would love to attend the CA rally. Right now my BH 3370 is heading to Elkhart to get some major work done. Hope to have it back by March so we can attend. Let me know when the last date for signing up?

12-02-2009, 01:00 PM
Would love to see you again, Larry and Debi. Tell Debi I found some really great Shiraz and I'll share. :)

Al and Donna, Since I don't have a block of sites reserved, (too small of a group) I'd go ahead and make reservations and just cancel them if you can't come. They only charge a $10 fee if you cancel more than 48 hours in advance, which is cheap insurance. Its a small 43 space park, so not lots of sites. If it looks like we are going to have a larger group by the end of December. I'll go ahead and pay the deposit for another block of sites, but then everyone will have to go thru me for reservations.
It would be teriffic if we had a good sized rally!

Hi, were interested but won't know for sure until next week. Will make reservations then.

Rich and Robin, thanks for checking in. Hope you can make it. I think it looks like a good turnout. :)

We are interested to go but just finished 3 trips in 10 weeks so need to stay home awile and catch up on work. We will know more by the first of the year.

12-06-2009, 07:43 PM
Art and Teresa, Hope you guys can make it. you might want to make reservations, then just cancel if you can't go. For some reason the park has become popular for RV Rallies.... LOL
It's been filling up most weekends and in fact, I couldn't get the weekend I wanted. I'm monitoring it every couple days and will hold a block if I can at the end of the month if it looks like we need to.
Hope to see you!

12-08-2009, 10:34 PM
We may not be making it to your rally since you have changed your dates. That weekend, our grandaughter turns 1 yr old and we can't miss her birthday party (it'll be a huge party with lots of family members & friends). If by chance you change your dates, please let us know because any other weekend is open for us. We'll send your banner in the mail if we can't make it.

12-15-2009, 12:20 AM
If anyone has made reservations for this rally and not PM'ed me or posted here, can you please let me know? It looks like we have several new members attending and I'm really excited to meet you all.

Teresa, sorry about the date change. I had to take the weekends that were left on their schedule. Ray is looking at retiring finally, so I'm sure we'll meet up at some of the other rallies, and I really want to make Jackson this year.

12-15-2009, 12:36 PM
We also have run into a conflict and will not be able to attend. Sorry we will miss everyone.

12-17-2009, 07:50 PM
Just made reservations. Site 42 arrive the 19th and check out the 22nd.
The person I talked to didn't seem to know about the rally and got us in a site near you by me mentioning your name.

We'll be getting there very late unless we can both take some time off that Friday. I figured it was better to make the reservations now and maybe have to cancel than to not be able to make them later.

12-17-2009, 09:33 PM
Yeah!! Kristy, so happy you guys are coming down.
You need some relaxation time! I'll have to give MaryBeth a call.:)

Dale & Judy, sorry to miss you guys. I wish I could have had the couple weekends I wanted to reserve. As much as I like the KOA, it's pretty small to reserve for a bigger party and they only allow one group per weekend because of the smaller clubhouse.

12-18-2009, 07:22 AM
Well Debbi, we are in site 25, arriving 3/18 and departing on 3/22. Anyone coming from socal that wants to caravan please email me to discuss.

12-18-2009, 03:29 PM
Thanks Larry!
So glad you guys are coming up north! The park is pretty small so no matter where you are, it's not far to the other sites or the clubhouse. I'm bringing firewood, so if it's not raining we can have a campfire night. Stay tuned for more details... :)

12-29-2009, 12:17 PM
Barb and I would like to attend if it's still on. We're just right down the road in Yuba City.

12-29-2009, 05:28 PM
Rich and Barb, we'd love to have you! The info for the park is on the first posting for the thread. You'll need to call and make reservations as soon as you can. Tell them your with Debra Duryee. They are not terribly sharp in the office, so don't be alarmed if they seem confused. I'm heading down there for the new year, so will have another talk with them when I get there. :) Its a small park, so no matter where they put you, you're not far away.

There will be more details posted after the first of January. Lots of new (to us) attendees for this rally. Should be loads of fun.

12-29-2009, 10:56 PM
Excellent, we'll be there! I'll call tomorrow and get-er locked in. Arriving as of now on 3-19 and leaving on the 21st. Looks like a nice park. This will be our first rally, so go easy on us!

12-30-2009, 02:03 PM
I called the 800 #, got right through, told him we were the Duryee party and it's a done deal. He said they'll have an area roped off for us. Looking forward to it. Now, who's ready for a mudslide?;).

12-30-2009, 02:07 PM
Me! Oh Me! I make them. I drink them. They're good!:p
I think Deb likes them too...

We would like to attend the rally also and have signed up with the campground, we are assigned space #24. Please add us to your list, we are looking forward to the rally and have attended Jackson and Buellton Rallies this year. We will be arriving on the 18th and leaving on the 22nd.

12-31-2009, 11:44 PM
Thanks all for letting me know. Out of town at the moment. Will have more details when I get back next week.

01-01-2010, 04:54 PM
Hi Deb,
Art & I have made reservations to attend your rally and will be staying for one week, arriving 3/18 & departing on 3/25. However, we still don't know for sure if we will make it because we may be attending our Grandaughters' 1st birthday party that weekend (parents may be changing date of party). We made the reservation anyway so we would at least have a space reserved and it's only a $10. cancellation fee if we can't make it. Hoping we'll make it there.

Art should have known better to reply under my user name, no one knows him by "Trailer Trash" LOL :D

Thanks for posting guys! We now have 9 rigs already (8 HL's and an SOB) and a couple more that should call in this week. If anyone else is thinking of going, it would be great if you could call in for reservations this next week. They only charge a $10 fee if cancelled 48 hours or more in advance.
I just returned today from our New Year's trip there and we had a great time. I'm thinking of some activities for us and need input from those attending.
The campground put in two very nice horseshoe pits and I was thinking that a tourney might be fun if the weather was good. There are also two wineries in the area that are open by appointment, Lake Oroville visitors center, the Chinese temple museum that has the largest display of chinese artifacts in the US and a golf course in Oroville as well as Chico (20 miles away). There is also a pool table within the clubhouse, so a pool tournament is also possible. Ideas anyone? Any favorites?

01-03-2010, 09:52 PM
We'd love to do the wineries. I like to shoot pool, a little horeshoes. Maybe check out the Chinese temple museum.

01-09-2010, 04:25 PM
I have listed in the rally info posting all that I have confirmed reservations for. If you have made reservations and you aren't on the list, can you pleae let me know via PM or posting?
I am also putting together a winery tour for Quilici Vineyards and Long Creek Winery. Both are boutique wineries with private tours and tastings available by appointment. Right now I will plan for a Saturday outing. Probably around 1:00? Both are nearby. Any other thoughts?

01-09-2010, 09:09 PM
Count Debbi & I in for the wine tasting. Yummy!

01-09-2010, 10:16 PM
Mark will taste wine and I'll drive.

01-09-2010, 10:53 PM
Kristy that's great! Ray won't taste wine either, but he'll drive...LOL
Between just the 2 trucks we can seat 12.
Now I need a director for the Horseshoe tournament. Any takers?

01-11-2010, 06:56 PM
Volunteers needed...
I could use someone to make up the name tags if they have the equipment?

We have two wineries close by and will do tours and tasting on Saturday. Do any have a particular time you'd like to go? I have to schedule one and the other opens at 11:30. I was thinking around 12:00, so there was time to do both and get back for the potluck. We will have a couple non-wine drinker drivers as well. Cost for the one winery will be $3, with it credited toward any purchase.
Would any of the wine lovers be interested in a light up LED wine glass for $6 ea or 2 for $10? They are acrylic, hand wash. Thought they might be a fun souvenir. WIll need to order by the middle of Feb.

Any other input is welcome!

01-14-2010, 01:57 PM
Whoo Hoo!!! We're up to 12 rigs! Tripled from our very first rally in 2008!
Thank you all for planning to attend this rally. It looks like we will have a great time in Oroville.

01-15-2010, 10:29 PM
Judy and I cannot make the rally but since I have the equip. to do it I would be glad to make the name tags for you.

01-16-2010, 12:38 AM
Dale, you are awesome!
Just let me know what your schedule is and when I need to get the info to you. There is a budget now from HL for the rallies, so let me know what supplies or money you need so we can keep you doing these :)
Thanks Bunches! and we'll really miss you and Judy! It's looking like we'll be able to do a short trip to Winchester, so hopefully catch up with you there.
Thanks again!

01-16-2010, 07:49 PM
Judy and I cannot make the rally but since I have the equip. to do it I would be glad to make the name tags for you.

You are awesome! I was waiting to give our new people a chance to participate, before jumping in to offer. That is a tough time in the school year for me to take on anything extra and now I don't need to!

01-16-2010, 10:00 PM
We are in Arizona again and won't be home until the 1st week in March. If you will e-mail me some names I'll work on them while we travel. I'll also send you a pre-lim for your approval.

Kristy, do yo want me to do Winchester's also. I'd be glad to.

01-16-2010, 11:21 PM
That would be great Dale. We still have people signing up and I haven't updated the logo yet, but we have lots of time yet.

We are still waiting for Deb and Ray and Marybeth to get signed up!

01-16-2010, 11:40 PM
Kristy, was that a hint? LOL
Dale, I'll get you a list by the end of the month, that will give the later people a chance to sign up and hopefully it will be a complete list by then.
Thanks again for doing the badges, it's a huge help!

01-17-2010, 05:16 PM
I think that was more than a hint! lol

01-18-2010, 03:11 PM

We will be there wide-eyed and bushy tailed...

01-18-2010, 03:42 PM
Awesome! Did you already do your registration? And what are the dates you'll be there? I will add them to the portal page.
So glad you guys will make it! can't wait to see the new rig now that you guys finally drank the Kool-aid. LOL

01-18-2010, 05:49 PM
Whoo Hoo! we are up to 14 rigs now! Now that's a rally!
Looking for any input on activities you'd like. I also will need help with a few items to make things run smoothly. If you have a talent or a desire to help with anything, please let me know. A really fun rally involves everyone and I'd like to include as many as possible that would like to help or plan activities. As much as you want or as little as you like. Mostly another pair of hands at our sign in and activities. The real time consuming items have been taken care of by some of our other Heartland family. Thank you Larry & Dale!
While I have enjoyed the casual atmosphere of our other smaller rallies and have made some wonderful friends, I'm really looking forward to meeting so many of our other Heartland owners at one time. Now we'll really need those name badges!

01-18-2010, 06:14 PM
You know we'll help out with whatever you need. We are taking that Friday off so we can get there fairly early that day and help get stuff setup.

Is Larry doing the raffle part? What do you need Larry? How can we help? I have a big roll of raffle tickets left over from our rally last year. There is plenty for Oroville and Winchester Bay.

01-18-2010, 08:18 PM
Kristy, you guys are taking Friday off? No wonder I love you two! :) Yeah!!! double yeah!!!
I also promise I will make my reservations for Winchester no later than Wednesday. I have to check with Bren to see if she and Dave are coming with us.

About the only thing I haven't thought about for the rally is decorations. I'll have to check the dollar store and big lots, although the only thing they'll probably have is Valentines stuff. I've already got the tourist info from Oroville, working on goody bag stuffers and a couple prizes for Horseshoe tourney. This is where my car show experience comes in handy...LOL Begging is an art form.
talk to you soon!

01-18-2010, 10:18 PM
We may be down to Redding for a night or two next month, without the trailer, but its a way out of town anyway. Maybe we can get together then and talk about what needs to be done.

01-18-2010, 10:42 PM
give us a call when you get here. Look forward to seeing you guys again.
I don't think we're going anywhere next month. Finally into some of the home improvement projects we've put off. I'll have a little firmer list of items that will need to be done by the first of Feb. See you then!

Thanks for the link. It figures they post that now after I made reservations... LOL

Robin & Rich. Thank you very much for your offer of help. I promise not to work you too hard. I'll let you know as we get a little closer what I'll need. I think mostly some help at registration, but it looks like a lot of us will be there the day before, so that may not be bad either?

Larry, Thanks for the re-post, I couldn't get the link to come up either, but it was on the KOA main site. Looks like we'll have enough people for a great raffle! And thank you again for offering to help. I'll be talking to you soon!

01-20-2010, 01:39 PM
I failed to mention that we got the package for the first two days and the other days are reserved for us, but we have to go back into the office and basically reregister for the remaining days.

People who have already booked their reservation can probably request the package..

I booked this with Stefanie at the KOA Campground office...

01-20-2010, 06:11 PM
I just called and switched our reservation to take advantage of the deal. They have to refund the deposit you have already paid, charge you a new deposit (1st night) for the two night package deal and then you pay for additional nights when you get there along with the second night of the package.

It takes them a few minutes to get the computer to do all the gymnastics, but it should work.

01-21-2010, 12:52 AM
Deb We just made reservations for the 18th leaving the 21st. I jus PMed you but I forgot to give you the number. It is 16702

01-21-2010, 01:47 AM
We've got a REAL rally going now!!! 15 rigs! A big Thank You to all who have registered and all who have volunteered to help. We're going to have a great time! In case I haven't posted it before, we'll be in site 43, which is the corner site in the last row in the park. It's also one with a big patio so we can have a campfire, weather permitting.

01-21-2010, 05:06 AM
Deb, sounds like friday nite appetizers and mixer at 4PM and an awesome potluck at 5PM on Saturday nite. Does the casino have a great friday nite buffet or does anyone have suggestions. I just mite have to get out the weber bbq for friday nite lol.

Sounds like with 15 rigs we gonna party! Whoopee!

01-21-2010, 11:56 AM
Larry, the casino does have a good seafood buffet on Friday Nights. (and you get coupons too) They also do cook to order NY steaks that aren't half-bad. We actually got 14 of us seated for dinner together last year, thanks to Teresa's wrangling, but I doubt they could seat 30 of us at the same time.
Our site has a huge built in BBQ, so we could pursue that idea as well?
I'm pretty excited we have this many attending. Pretty good growth of the owners group. From 4 rigs to 8 to 15 in three years.

01-22-2010, 04:22 AM
Kool Deb, now don't get stressed, just delegate and have some fun. I talked to Roger at the KOA, and since I am in a larger site (#25), he just said he put on my reservation to to give me $40 casino money when I check in. Very nice.

He also mentioned a few wineries that we should check out during wine tasting. He said he had some "ins" so you should call him to discuss. Just trying to help.

01-22-2010, 11:44 AM
Thanks Larry, and I DO appreciate the help. Although probably still somewhat of a control freak, I'm growing out of it :) I'm actually pretty good at delegating now, and everything does not have to be perfect anymore. After all I was the only one that ever noticed anyway. LOL Fun and Fellowship are the most important elements.

I'll give KOA a call today, I have to fax Stephanie an updated list of attendees anyway. I've talked to the wineries, but I think it would be really neat if we could get them to come to us? Just an idea (actually Ray's) and maybe Roger could help? There are a couple in Chico (nearby) as well as the two in Oroville.

What do you need for the raffle? We have tickets, container. I'll pick up ribbon and some gift bags. We have a few extra hands to help as well. And a BIG thank you again for doing this!

01-29-2010, 12:21 AM
Waiting for confirmation on the 16th Rig !!!
Things are coming together for a great weekend. More complete details to come by the end of next week. Start thinking about your potluck goodies so we can get a count of what we will have. I'm not worried about quantity as all the rallies seem to be a three day eat-a-thon. :)
Keep your fingers crossed for good weather again this year!

01-29-2010, 01:06 AM
Hi Deb,
We would like to bring Troy and Carol Ratliff along to the rally as SOB's. Told them to call the park for reservations. Will keep you in touch.

yeah Larry! I got your message this afternoon, I'll call you tomorrow. Had Mom at the Dr. until late today, on my way to Reno tomorrow, riding, not driving, so will call and check in with you and catch up. Are you feeling any better yet?

01-29-2010, 04:36 AM
Thanks Deb, I subscribe to the theory, of don't ask, don't tell. I just try to roll with the punches. Back problems are a pain in the u know what. Trying to deal with them can be real expensive, when you start looking at air ride seats, air hitches, and all that stuff. I am trying a new method by having my truck suspension looked at by experts, to see if they can soften the ride, without reducing the safety factor before spending all that money. I now appreciate campers who travel with severe back pain. It sucks, but I am not complaining just trying to solve the problem.

Last Call for Registration!! 17 Rigs registered!!!!
I am finalizing the attendee list so I can send it to Dale for badges. Since I am not doing the badges on site, I won't be able to add last minute registrations with the same kind of badges.
If you have registered and I don't have you on the first post event listing, please post to this site or PM me with your information. Also If you haven't sent me your "real" name, please do so, if you'd like it on your name badge. :) Otherwise, you're going to get a first name and a screen name. :) Also... If you are a club member and your number is not displayed on your profile, can you get it to me?
Things are coming together nicely and I'll mail updated details by the end of next week.
Looking forward to seeing everyone!

02-05-2010, 06:29 PM
RVs of Sacramento and Mike Moreland of Heartland will be attending the Rally. Roundtable discussion with owners on Saturday and a new Landmark will be displayed. They will also help to defray the cost of dinner, so I will post changes next week, after I hear back from caterer. THANK YOU Mike and RV's of Sac!!!
I will have a firm schedule posted by next Friday as well as email to all of you that are registered.
Sure hope they don't bring the Rushmore... Might have to make sure the BH registration stays at home...

02-05-2010, 11:22 PM
That's great Deb! I tried to get Mike for last years rally, but he couldn't make it. It well be nice to meet the man who helped us come to an agreement with our dealer.

02-06-2010, 12:00 AM
Kristy, if Mike's the one who can make agreements happen, perhaps I really will leave the BH registration at home!! LOL
Also working on the 303 guys. We'll see what happens with that next week. I know I'll have some goody bags and a prize or two from them, but might get them to run down and do some demos as well. This is coming together pretty well now. I'll also work on some 303 stuff for Oregon as well. I DO owe you.. LOL

02-06-2010, 11:05 AM
Kristy & Deb, Although we have never met Mike either, we sure were glad he got involved with our purchase. We've never been so disgusted at sales people as we were with buying our 3670. We were one step away from looking at other brands, at different dealers, trying to find a dealership that would be realistic.

Gary & Diana

02-06-2010, 01:50 PM
Nice to know, Gary. Thanks for the comments. I'll be sure to pass it along to him.

02-08-2010, 04:26 PM
OK! The moment you have all been waiting for!! Just kidding. I have finally finagled the weekend off and will be joining you all!! I will be arriving on Thursday and leaving Sunday and staying in #7. It is a back-in so I will need help. Look forward to seeing all of you then.

02-08-2010, 05:24 PM
Hooray! We've missed seeing you. Mark will help you as will many others I'm sure.

Now you need to get a weekend in June off so you can come to the coast.:)

02-08-2010, 06:19 PM
I HAVE been waiting for this moment!! Yeah Marybeth!!
So glad you're able to make it. It just wouldn't have been the same without you. :)
On another positive note, 303 products is supplying us with some goody bag items and I was able to score some for Kristy too!

02-08-2010, 09:42 PM
Double Yeah!!!!

02-11-2010, 07:49 PM
Site updates...
For those that would still like to attend but couldn't commit earlier, as of 4:30 today there are still a couple back-in sites available for March 18th. They have 9 pull-throughs available starting March 19th. Get 'em quick!!

02-12-2010, 11:11 AM
Deb & Kristy, We'd really love to be at this rally but each year we've just got back to the house in Oregon from our stay down here on the Colorado river. Just a little too much to turn around and go back down. Hopefully next year we'll be able to stay a couple weeks longer and attend this rally on the way home. We'd really like to meet Mike from Heartland and more of the Calif. group that can't make our rally up in Oregon.
See you both in June, G&D

02-12-2010, 11:48 AM
We'd love to have you too! I know its tough for many, as one of our local resident members is always in AZ this time of the year and can't make it either. The Spring timing is to not bump up against either of the other two CA rallies and Kristy's OR one, as we pull from the same group of members. That and it's flat too hot to camp here during the summer. LOL If Ray retires this year, I'll be right behind him and that will give me a little more flexability as well.
Kristy and I are kicking around a "State of Jefferson" rally for next year tho, so stay tuned. If you have any ideas on a location in the "State of Jefferson", we'd love to hear them. See you guys soon, June will be here before you know it!

02-18-2010, 01:16 PM
Connie and I will be driving up from Yuba City. We purchased our first RV( 38' Lanmark Pinehurst ) last month and will love to meet every one and as newbees we could use all the info we can get.

You will be missed Gary. See you in Winchester Bay in June or sooner. Hope you had fun snow birding.

02-18-2010, 03:13 PM
Mike and Connie! Welcome to the Heartland Owners!
Have you already made reservations at the KOA? I know that the Thursday arrival only had a couple back-ins available, but Friday arrivals had several pull-throughs still available as of last week.
Let me know if you have made reservations and what site you will be in. There will be a lot of us to feed you well and fill you full of information. Look forward to meeting you!

02-19-2010, 12:40 PM
Thanks Ray and Deb,

Since you are so close I think we will drive up from Yuba and drive back or stay in a hotel. I would like to get some towing advise before I pull the 38 footer for the first time. We are from Georgia but been traveling a couple years staying in Hotels. My wife is a Travel Nurse, so every 3 or 6 month we move, the Pinhurst will makes it easy. Well, for me any way , the way my wife shops I have a big storage hole to put it all in and still have room to walk now. I look forward in meeting you and taking you up on the feeding.
Best regards Mike

02-19-2010, 02:24 PM
Mike and Connie,
there is a nice new hotel right on the property at Feather Falls casino, so that would be convenient for you. If you do decide to come up in the trailer, there are pull-thrus available on Friday. There will also be a lot of folks available to give you advice and towing tips and get you set up. If it were me, I'd just hook up and hit highway 70 and come on up. You don't have to go thru town to get to the KOA and there has to be a first time for everybody. At least you'd be among your Heartland family, and Ray carries a lot of tools. :)
I recently learned to tow, and surprisingly, was only nervous for about the first 10 miles.
There are a couple more Landmarks coming and one of the folks attending lives at the KOA while as she works as an administrator for a medical clinic I believe. Their home state is MI.

02-19-2010, 05:58 PM
Don't worry about towing, If Deb and I can tow, anyone can! LOL A short trip is the best thing to do the first time and we'll all help you figure out how to park and get set up. You have to learn sometime, it may as well be with us to help you out.

PS Larry,
Any advice for the new rookies? LOL

02-20-2010, 01:16 AM
Hi Connie and Mike,
As an x-rookie I can promise you that the first time you go to a campground, it's really important to go where experienced RVers can assist you in not only parking your rig, but explaining what everything else is in your Landmark and how to use it. You will find it useful, and everyone does love a show when rookies park. They have their chairs outside and their cocktails and watch you sweat it out. NOT! Just get a pull thru and you will be fine, and don't let anyone stick their arm in your window and try to help you park. When you back up, put your hands on the bottom of the steering wheel and when backing up the rig will turn whichever way you turn your hands. That's the secret. And small movements when turning the wheel. Look forward to meeting both of you and it will be just fine and don't forget to take those turns wide is my advice. LOL

Seriously, many of the rally goers taught me to do everything you will learn, and there is no time but the present to go for it. That is what insurance is for! I know that for a fact. Adios!

02-26-2010, 10:52 PM
Nicole and I will arrive 3-18 and depart 3-21. Looking forward to meeting everyone. I will confirm reservations on 2-27 with Stephanie.

02-27-2010, 12:06 AM
Awesome!! This is going to be a great rally! Welcome to our HL family. There are several new owners and new members we all look forward to meeting. We are still at 20 rigs as John and Lori (our official sob's) had to cancel. Lori had back surgery and is recuperating.

I will have details posted tomorrow about the Potluck and wine tasting. Still waiting on a call back for time.

03-05-2010, 06:31 PM
Mike and Connie,

As a suggestion you might want to get in touch with Marybeth (Flamingknitter). She told us that when she bought her Landmark she hired someone to train her on not only pulling the 5th wheel and how to operate everything on the Landmark. I was a one day training that gave her enough confidence, including backing up, to get out and mix it up with everyone. If I remember correctly this class cost her about $400.00

Final Details for Rally -
I will be sending you all an email as well, for those I have an address for.
Friday - Appetizer & Finger Food Potluck Site 43 if weather is good or in the community hall as announced. Bring an appetizer to share and BYOB if you want something other than beer, soft drinks or water.

Saturday Wine Tasting. Sign up by Friday at the Rally. We're only doing one vineyard nearby, so those that want to play horseshoes and go , should be able.

Horseshoe Tournament (weather permitting) Start time will depend on how many sign up to play.

Saturday PotLuck - Thanks to some great Help with the funding, we will be asking participants to bring side dishes, breads, salads or desserts. The Meats will be provided. Bring flatware for each. Napkins, plates, cups will be provided.

Raffle after Dinner - We are asking each attendee to bring a raffle gift between $10 to 15 value. Money we raise during the raffle will go to offeset supplies for this rally and the next.
I think those are the important points :) If there are any questions, please send me a note or post here.

Note to Attendees from KOA Management: I know some of you have done this, and some have not. If you are interested in gambling, please call the KOA before you arrive to "split" your reservation. They will NOT be able to do this on check-in. They have a promotional package going for $69 for two nights and you get $20 per person in Magic Money. The promotion was started after we reserved, but some have already changed. They will re-do your reservation for a single night plus a promo package. If you are not interested in gambling, the the regular KOA card discount is $4 cheaper.
*** NEW INFO - Friday night Concert - Pablo Cruise 8:30 - Free Concert[/COLOR]
Most importantly, come prepared to have a great time!!

03-11-2010, 04:06 PM
We are looking forward to our very first RV Rally. Mike and I are first time RV travelers.
My question is.. For the raffle, do we need to bring a $15 dollar gift per person or per RV.
I am also a little worried about pulling our RV for the first time. When you see a cloud of dust
coming at you like a dozer, you can be sure it is Mike and Connie. haha.
We hope to learn a lot from you guys.

03-11-2010, 05:37 PM
per RV is fine for the raffle gifts.
Don't worry about the pulling so much, just watch the swing on the turns. Keep remembering, the other cars are smaller, they'll get out of your way... :)
The first 10-15 miles are pretty tense, then you'll settle right in. Highway 70 is pretty open once you get away from YC and MV. It's a good road to test pull. My first pull was through Redding and down I-5. I still don't like traffic much, but highway is fine. Other than the wide swings on right-hand turns, it's easier than driving the big class A we had. Our truck is so long, that wide turns are how we have to turn anyway. LOL I usually find a nice big semi-truck that's going the speed I want to travel and just stick behind him. You'll get a little air buffeting, but think of the truck as your safety margin. It will take him longer to stop than you, and longer to go than you. Just take it easy, travel at the speed you're comfortable towing.
There will be plenty of folks to help park and get you set up, just worry about getting there. I'll send my phone number in a PM , just call if you have any issues, and we'll send somebody out to rescue you. :)

03-11-2010, 05:39 PM
Mike and Connie - As BillyJoeJimBob said earlier - TAKE A LESSON!!! I travel alone and never pulled anything bigger than a 2 horse trailer and then only when I could pull through and never back up. I called Gold Country Driving and RV school. They are based in Jackson and Stockton and come to you for the lesson. They send 2 experienced RV'ers and spend the day with you. First thing we did was do a walk through and review all the systems and how they work. We went over all the stuff that I did in the PDI but had forgotten in the six weeks that had passed. We completely reviewed the "hitch-up" procedure and they provide a check list. Then we went driving. The morning was spent on city streets, country roads and the freeway. After lunch, we found a vacant lot and started backing up. That is why they send two instructors - each teaches a different method for backing. It was money well worth spending. I felt very confident taking my first trip out alone. Towed from Sacramento to Susanville. The second trip was to Dillon Beach and that windy road. I pull a 40ft Landmark.

I look forward to meeting you in Oroville. Travel safe!!

03-11-2010, 10:43 PM
:) Thanks for the advice. I made a dry run today.hahaha.. I wanted to know what the roads were like. I figured out that I am in space 19. It is a pull through. I don't have to back up at all!!! I also made a route that is a straight shot. I only have one sharp turn to the right.
Also I plan on taking the RV training school. I am lucky, my husband moves 747 aircrafts all the time.
I believe we will be OK. He wants me to drive, because he will not always be around. With this being my first driving trip Mike may have to bring a change of drawers!!! It will not be hard to find my husband. He will be the one kissing the ground as soon as I park. He may think twice before making me drive again.
Oh by the way, the Casino and KOA camp ground was great. The people are very friendly. They gave me
some good tips, and they encouraged me.

03-12-2010, 01:33 AM
Connie, Thanks for the chuckle! I usually don't drive with Ray as he gets car sick. I'm sure he would have the same reaction after a couple hours with me. If he could last that long! I've been towing on short "girl" trips with friends. I try not to have to back up either. As a team, the girls are getting pretty good at setting up quickly, as the faster we get done, the faster we get margaritas. LOL
See you soon!

03-12-2010, 05:33 PM
Just a few more details... A big thank you to Ralph Graves and RV's of Sacramento. They are hosting the BBQ meats for Saturdays potluck as well as bringing a new full-body paint Landmark Grand Canyon for an "Open Coach" showing. Ralph and Mike Moreland of HL and wives will be attending the dinner on Saturday and holding a roundtable discussion with the owners. Mike will bring us up to speed with HL corporate and you can ask your questions.
Also, if you're not Official Owners Club members yet, if you sign up and pay at the rally, you can get a $10 rebate from the chapter on your dues!!! There are some great perks to being a member and Jim B is working all the time to secure more for us.
Finally... Great weather in the 70's is the forecast for next weekend!!!!
Ray and I look forward to seeing our old friends and meeting new ones next week. Can't wait to get there!

03-15-2010, 10:03 AM
How does the raffle work? Is it like a white elephant exchange? Bid on stuff? Draw names for stuff? Wrap them or not? Looking forward to meeting everyone Thursday. We will be at 7 feathers Wednesday. This is our first rally. Looks like great weather.

03-15-2010, 11:02 AM
raffle is like any other one, just buy some tickets and we will draw for prizes. We will give everyone two tickets on Friday, then you will have the chance to buy more.
We will have the prizes displayed on a table, so unwrapped is best. I will have some ribbon, etc to dress up any that need a little decoration.

Seven Feathers is an awesome park. We stay there as a stopover to the coast. Looking forward to meeting everyone. You have a lot of company as first time attendees. We are always open to new ideas, so please, if you see something that could be better, or have a new idea, please share them with us.

03-24-2010, 03:13 PM
Thank you for putting on the rally. We had a great time, learned a lot and met some wonderful people. Looks like about half of the group that attended will also be at the Oregon rally in June. We look forward to seeing you all again and meeting more wonderful people in June.

03-25-2010, 12:41 PM
PJ & Karol.
Thanks for making the rally a fun event. I just provide the location, and the people provide the fun. We will definately see you in Winchester.
Again, a big thanks to all who attended and all my helpers.

Deb. and Ray,
Enjoyed your rally, food was good, enjoyed meeting Mike Moorland, enjoyed meeting some new attendees plus seeing all the regulars, see you in Winchester.

Art and Teresa

03-26-2010, 09:59 AM
I know I talked to a few of you who highlhy recommend JGW in Redding. Got any faveroite site numbers to share? Someone said a back in site overlooking the river. See ya all in JUne @ Winchester Bay. Larry......bring your crib board!

03-26-2010, 11:01 AM
Sorry, I"m of no use here. All I do is go visit Mark and Kristy when they're staying there. We have some local friends that stay there when they want to run away for a weekend, I'll ask them when we cook tomorrow.

03-26-2010, 06:04 PM
Hi PJ, we have stayed at JGW a couple of times and really like R1 or any of the river sites and R1 is a pull thru, they are also a little cooler in the evenings when it is hot.

03-28-2010, 01:34 AM
Deb and Ray,
You guys put on an exceptional good rally and Debbi and I want to thank you for providing all the essentials for a great time had by all. The campground was small but cozy, with grass between each site, the KOA staff were very nice, food was great, rally goers were all friendly and helpful, my buddy Butch (GMC) installed a really kool, professional looking cover for the bottom of the screen door so our beagles, Stella and Lucy, couldn't scratch thru the mesh, and the casino was within walking distance. It was a sweet touch that Ralph, the HL Sacramento RV dealer, not only provided an outstanding dinner of chicken and beef, but also had Juan the technician fix anything he could handle, on the spot. I really enjoyed seeing all our HL friends again, and meeting some new ones.

Everyone who reads this please come to the HL rallies, they are AWESOME! Don't forget to put Oct 15th weekend on your calendar for the 2010 2nd Annual So Cal Fall Heartland Rally in Buellton, CA. Last year 27 rigs, 3 HL latest model HL show rigs, and lots of neat things to do near Santa Barbara, CA. If you haven't met JimBo, this could be your chance.

03-28-2010, 10:46 AM
Thanks Larry, and it was great to see you and Debbi. I believe it's the people who make the rallies, and our Heartlander's are some great people. I thank my old friends and new friends for making this a great Rally. And thanks to you and Stacey for making our raffle so much fun. :)
To those of you that had to cancel, best wishes for a speedy recovery and hope to see you at one of the next rallies.

As Larry said, it's a small park, so a decision will have to be made soon as to hold it there again or not.
If those that attended, or would have attended, would drop me a note and let me know if the location works for you or not, it would help with our plans for next year.
Looking forward to seeing some of you again in Winchester, and the rest I hope to catch up to at another HL rally. Travel Safe!

03-28-2010, 07:19 PM
Hi Deb,
I think we should have next years rally in the exact same campground in Oroville, as Debbi and I enjoyed ourselves immensely. The KOA office told me if we make reservations a little earlier with at least 10 rigs, they will give us a discount. The truth is the rally goers make the difference, and this years bunch were the greatest. See you all in Winchester Bay in June.

03-30-2010, 05:28 PM
Same site is fine with us, but we would consider others as well.

04-08-2010, 12:23 PM
Hello Heartland family, Mike and I just wanted to say thank you for welcoming us into your rally. We had a wonderful time. Martha the horse shoe champ has almost decided to purchase her own heartland rig. Mike and I had never attended a rally and we were somewhat skeptical, but all our worries were quickly resolved when we met all you wonderful people. Our hauling fears went away after we met Larry. Yes Larry you are correct, that is why we pay insurance... Also a great big thanks to Heartland rep for the BBQ. I feel like we have made some longtime friends. Hope to see you guys again .
Thanks again for teaching the newbes
Mike and Connie

Seems to me the Heartland horseshoe champ is Jim B. No, wait, it was toilet seats. ROFLMAO Remember Branson.

04-08-2010, 04:44 PM
Mike and Connie (and Martha too) was wonderful meeting you guys and I hope you can join us again at another rally. I was particularly pleased that Martha beat the guys. (no offense intended, guys)
If Martha gets serious about a Heartland, tell her I'd be glad to run down for the day and help her shop. :)
Note to Jim B about horseshoes: be afraid of Martha. Every time she throws there's the ringing sound of metal to metal contact... LOL
Take care in your travels!

06-09-2010, 10:53 PM
Please let us know when your rally is next spring.

Thanks, Ross and Linda

06-11-2010, 03:30 AM
Hi Ross and Linda,
We have lots of room in Buellton at Flying Flags RV Resort one block from Solvang in the middle of October. Come and join us. Just go the portal page and scroll down to the bottom right and click the link on any rally you wish to join.

06-11-2010, 12:41 PM
Ross and Linda,
We'll certainly add you to our notification list. The Rally is usually around Easter vacation, generally the last week or two of March. At this time, we'll probably hold it at Oroville again as the casino and the KOA go out of their way for us.
We're currently in OR, enjoying the Winchester rally.
