Re: 2013 Goshen Rally - Documents Updated

Ray,

You are correct the post office will hold you mail for 30 days. Now here is the puzzling part if you rent a post office box and forward your mail to it they will hold your mail for 6 months!!!! No wonder the post office system is bankrupt they do not think about things or care about people
.

dave

That's because the 30 day service is free, as is delivery to your home each and every day...you pay to rent a P.O. box for six months at a time...remember, USPS is mandated to operate like a business. How many businesses do you know that provide services for free?

Thank you for locating this for me. We are full timers who get our mail on the road. Most parks are very obliging to receive mail and hold it for us.

There is also a USPS iPhone app that has the hold feature in the menu.

I see on the map of the fairgrounds there are EWS symbols on the SO campground. Does this mean there is elec, water and sewer available at each site?

I am looking for a telephone number to set up service at the Rally. I am having issues getting my slide aligned and the dealership at this point can not correct it. So, I am looking to see if a repair slots is still available and if so I would like to make a reservation and of course register to attend Rally if I can get service. Can some direct me to the correct person?

That is what it looks like to me also, but it also looks like only 30 amp?

Jim, I would call Jim B or Julie (club manager) they will be able to point you in the right direction. Julie Hancock 336-446-9462 I think Dave Yocum was handling service requests.

We were told at our post office we could put it on hold for 30 days. Close to the end of the 30 days (like on the 25th day) we could go online & have it done for another 30 days. They said no one would have to pick up the mail at the end of the original 30 days, that they would hold it. BUT we have previously also been told this couldn't be done. A friend that retired from the post office argued with them about only 30 days, & told them that he was a PO retiree & knew better, & they backed off on just 30 days. I think it just depends on who you talk to!

I am retired USPS...thirty days is the limit based on Postal Regulation. Some small P.O's make exceptions, but it is actually against regs....

Re: Packets for Rally attendees?

Well, today is Friday. Nancy and I arrived here at the Fairgrounds on Wednesday and slowly, the "rally core team" has been trickling in. And the heaving lifting has begun!

All the documentation printing has been completed. What huge print job that was. Thank you Office Max :)

Cookie (Dave H) and several volunteers have got 500+ T-shirts folded and all the rally bag stuff organized and ready for stuffing later today.

Jay (JayC) and Bernie (happykraut) brought down from my Elkhart storage and organized the door prizes, then jumped onto Cookie's team along with their wives to help with rally bag organization.

Dave (davebennington) and Julie (clubmgr) are here. Julie hit the ground running getting all the tickets (Pre-Rally Tour 1, Pre-Rally Tour 2, Amish Dinner, Bison Ranch and Elkhart Bus) organized and labeled. She's conscripted Dave to help with that too. They were up real late last night working on that as they go in the rally packets this morning!

Kevin W and Roy (olcoon) and their spouses started getting the lay of the land here making sure the venue is all set physically. Had a few trees trimmed, located all of the tricky sites and are preparing to paint out the boundaries of a bunch of sites.

Terry H arrived yesterday and he's getting ready to settle into his role of being my co-wagonmaster.

Michael and Kelly (2psnapod2 and 1) arrived late yesterday and are ready to go to work too.

There's several Heartlanders up in Elkhart at Elkhart Campground staying by J. Bernie's up there, TXBobcat's up there and others.

Here at the Fairgrounds, a few Heartlanders that are not part of the core team, are already here. Bill L and Barb Y (bacaye) arrived yesterday and Paul and Nan L arrived yesterday as well. Paul and Nan have a service appt. with RV Capital Service Center today.

I ran around helping coordinate a few things for the teams and then spent a good part of the day producing thousands of various labels for tickets envelopes, raffle tickets etc. Thank goodness for my Dymo Twin Turbo label printer. That think flies once I get the date files ready and label templates designed.

14 of us went out to dinner about 7 last night. Tried to go to Steak and Shake and there wasn't an empty seat there. Regrouped and headed to Applebees. Better choice. Had a great time and Kevin endeared himself with the manager and he gave us all a Military discount. We had several veterans in our group to (Kevin, Nelly, Roy, Paul and Michael).

Today will be a busy day for most teams again. I head out to pickup one last print job I forgot to send to the printer the first time, plus more envelopes. Julie finishes up tickets then Dave's team begins stuffing rally bags. That's a HUGE job! Kevin's team will be busy with site work.

Busy here at the rally venue, working hard and having fun too!

Duane, try saving the file first to your hard drive, then open. Should fix it.

I have. I have some issue with many pdf files. Some come out like what is above, some come out with a lot of black boxes, both on screen and print.

Re: Packets for Rally attendees?

I had to modify my post, I went and opened the for sale document and it works great. I opened the one that Duane posted and it was trash...

The For Sale PDF in the document thread worked for me.

Re: 2013 North American Rally

I know I've seen it before, but have not been able to locate the name and number of the primary Heartland dealer in the Goshen/Elkhart area so I can get some warranty work done. Can anyone help?? I've contacted Dometic and they tell me the 9100 awning that I have is not on their recall list so I have to take it to a dealer to have the motor replaced. I'd like to do that while I'm in Goshen. Thanks much Keith Also, can anyone tell me why I am unable to use the "return" button to create new lines in these posts?? Everything has to continue in the same line until it automatically line wraps because my "return" button does not work. Thanks, Keith

Great Lakes/Capital RV in Elkhart.

Not sure about your return button - Windows 8 anomaly? Perhaps you have two ENTER buttons. Try the other one to get a new line. Also might try Alt-Enter or CTRL-Enter.
