Anderson Ultimate Fifth Wheel Hitch

Thanks for the info. I have a FlexAir pin box which sits about 3 inches lower than the factory pin box. So I currently have my Reese hitch at its lowest position in the bed. Just looking what the clearances would be.

The previous post shows

• Three height adjustments: 16-3/4" lower position, 17-7/8" middle position and 19-1/8" upper position (from bed of truck to top of ball mount). These are for the 3220

The 3221 numbers are:

• Three height adjustments (measured from bed of truck to top of ball mount): 12-3/8" lower position, 13-7/16" middle position and 14-5/8" upper position

The 3200 is the steel rail mounted model and it will have different dimensions.

I believe it's the new funnel design. I had to look twice when I first saw it.

The funnel works really great. You can back up and be off by about 3 inches either side or front and back and the funnel will slide the ball in place. It came with the hitch I ordered last year and love it.
I really enjoy this hitch, the easy of use and the 32 lb weight when pulling it out of the Ram.

What happens with the trailers landing gear when you are off 3 inches and slide the trailer to hook up? Seems that would not be good with my Snap Pads and landing gear, especially on pavement or concrete? Chris

Same thing that happens to your gear when you miss a direct couple with a standard hitch. The difference that I have seen is that with the Andersen the weight is coming off of your landing gear as the ball drops into the funnel. The standard hitch moves the trailer sideways with all of the weight on the landing gear. Watching it, I did not see any undue strain on the landing gear.

I have found the Andersen to be a much smoother ride without the clanging, banging and chucking of the standard hitch and I don't need help putting the hitch in and out of the truck.

Jammie, Are you aware that Andersen recommends pinning the flex portion of the FlexAir? (they make a kit) Also, I had to mount the kingpin adapter with the ball receiver to the 'rear' to prevent the rear of the pinbox hitting the side rails on the bed. Oh yes... I do like the Andersen... positive hook-up, every time. We can talk more in 2 weeks..

I think the swivel head might have to be pined (per there recommendation). When I talked with them, they said the flex head could be a problem, but, some people do not pin. Here is there comment:
This hitch works flawlessly with almost any pin box, but the Rota-Flex design requires the addition of our lock out kit to work properly. (Part # 3247)

UPDATE!! Anderson Ultimate Fifth Wheel Hitch

Well, I started this thread about 16 months ago in hopes to learn more on the Anderson Goose Neck conversion. A different "Hybrid" style of hitch.

Reason for changing- when we upgraded to our 16 Ram, I ordered it with the fifth wheel trailer towing package. Which offered the puck and gooseball system. The most economical way to adapt our old fifth wheel hitch (Reese 16K) to the new puck system, was to add the Reese picture frame adapter. The combination of the adapter and the fifth wheel hitch created a lot of noise and movement. There was quite a bit of for and aft movement which created a lot of chucking and squeaking. Even with the Flex Air pin box, it was quite noticeable.

So, after 16 months, this arrived at my doorstep.

I will update my findings and opinions shortly....

Started out with the purchase of the Curt Gooseball/Puck system. Amazon dropped the price from $135 to $87 for about 24 hours and I jumped on it.

good news! I only have about 30 miles on a test run. So far, positive.
