Portable generator storage

So, where does everyone store their portable generator when traveling? Truck bed, rear storage tray, storage compartment....Etc.

Truck bed. Secured to the truck. One of these days, our goal is to add a 50amp receptical to the front of the rig for easy access. But in the meantime, just carry long enough cords to reach

Any issues with the weather exposure to the generator? Do you cover it?

Our little Yamaha EF2000 rides in the back of the truck. Only weighs 44 pounds so it is easy to carry from truck to back of Bighorn when I need to use it.

Same for us...rides there all the time for quick power after landing in evenings and before flight in mornings.

1-2 solar panels on the roof and you'd never have to take the generator out again for those quick overnight stops. We're always at 100% when we get where we're going.....free power!! :)

Right on.

We have 200 watts solar, but no inverter yet....so the Yama-hammer is our 120 volt source on overnighting stops....patience, we will catch up soon...Lol

we have a tonneau cover. But if we didn't, I would buy a cover for it. One without a label so nooone would know what was under

Have the tonneau to keep it covered when not towing. But when the cover is retracted for towing and you got the rain coming down. Do you cover them then? I was thinking about a rack on the back like Holbert has, but that might be a project for next year.

Our Yamaha has a cover...it is hard to get on/off, but it does a great job of protecting the generator. Looks like this installed.

We store ours in its box in the basement on the slide out tray. Easy to get to, but not in the way.

Thanks, we have room in the front storage area, where the factory generator would go. I was just concerned if there was any gas smell that was noticeable?

One would normally assume that these suitcase generators would smell of gas, but as long as the fuel is shut off and gas cap vent is closed, they would travel without nearly a smell in a compartment.

Ours always rides in the truck bed, but the only time it smells is because of travelling after I forgot to close the cap vent or put the cap back on after refueling...oops!

Our honda has always ridden in the basement. No odor
