    Dripping where it shouldn’t

Spent the day checking all of the water lines, on pump and city water, and the water heater. Also checked my repair with FlexSeal paste. Just a single drop of water. I then wrapped all the pipe ones again with FlexSeal tape. I am confident it will hold for now. Temps dropping in the 20s again...

    Dripping where it shouldn’t

Gary, we don’t have time to cut and remove. The crack goes all the way to an elbow and is about 2 feet long. Nearly all the plumbing supplies are bought out locally. Maybe this summer when it’s 50 degrees warmer, we can tackle it then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Dripping where it shouldn’t

Yes that grey line cracked on the seam. I have applied some FlexSeal paste to it in hopes it fills the crack, then I hope to wrap with flex seal tape. Since this line is not “under pressure” when in normal use, this solution is quickest to get us repaired and underbelly sealed back up before...

    Dripping where it shouldn’t

Nothing like walking up to the rig when she’s finally above freezing and seeing water dripping where it shouldn’t. After 5 days of record breaking below freezing and no electricity or water for most of it, we are finally able to evaluate what damage we might have sustained. Removed underbelly...

Jay, I agree with you, love it for temps about 20 and warmer. When the temp started dipping below 20, CheapHeat started losing the battle. When temps got into the teens and single digits, the best we could get was around 60 degrees inside. But when do we experience these temps? Very rarely. I...

    Frigid In Texas-winterizing issues!

When we took our ElkRidge into colder temperatures during the winter, we always seemed to be battling the condensation. Not so much in the Big Country we have now. So I think it’s just a bi-product of the line — an ElkRidge is more of a seasonal coach, meant for spring-to-fall camping. A...

SOLVED: Froze up: Where are the low point drains on a 3870

Not counting on it, Jim. Batteries are dead, everything including toilet is frozen, still no power. Not supposed to get above freezing for another 3 days. [emoji24] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Winter Travel

One thing to add, wrapping the low-point drain with foam and leaving it extended below the rig doesn’t seem to really help. I’ve still had them freeze. However, we tried wrapping and then cutting the coroplast with a U shape to create a flap, then pushing them up inside the belly, and tape up...

SOLVED: Froze up: Where are the low point drains on a 3870

Jim, normally, yes a CheapHeat system can be easily changed back to propane with a flick of a switch. However, the furnace has never been right in this rig. The original one produced a heavy burned metallic smell, and suburban authorized replacing the “innards” of the furnace by a rv mobile...

SOLVED: Froze up: Where are the low point drains on a 3870

1:30am Temp has dropped to 4 degrees here and we are in the same boat. No water at faucets and pump has stopped running as well. Have a drop light on behind the basement wall and heat cable on the kitchen lines but I guess it can’t compete. CheapHeat feels barely warm coming out the vents, so...

Water supply protection for sub-freezing temps

Well to follow up, the park wrapped the square pipe in pipe insulation and covered them with buckets, but failed to really insulate the spigots. Many have frozen. We had already wrapped ours well in insulation, blocks of foam from another project, and lined the bucket with silver bubble wrap...

Is a Surburban 42,000 btu enough

Here’s the manufacturer of CheapHeat. It is an add-on to your propane furnace that uses an electric element instead of a flame to heat the air. It still uses the blower of the furnace. https://www.rvcomfortsystems.com/buy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Is a Surburban 42,000 btu enough

The answer is “maybe.” It depends on how well your ducts are run and taped, how leaky your slide edges are, how well you windows seal, is it breezy outside, do you have the shades up or down, etc etc. In our Big Country, we’ve stayed “reasonably comfortable” in sub-freezing temps in Colorado and...

Water supply protection for sub-freezing temps

Dan some weather apps show us going to -2 for a low, 12 for a high. I’ve not seen temps this low in my life in Texas. New Mexico at 8,000 feet, yes. But not here. And temps not expected above freezing for 5 days. Some water supplies are taller than a 5 gallon bucket by 8” or more, so that may...

Water supply protection for sub-freezing temps

Hi all, I’d like to get some suggestions to help the management of the park we are living in. It’s a brand new park and they are not well-prepared for continuous sub-freezing temps that we are about to experience this week. Their solution is to cut all water off for the next few days...

    Major failure of heated hose

I was wondering too. I plan to address it with Camco. Too bad the manufacturing tag has burned in two, to know exactly who made it and when. It was purchased October 2019, used last year from October to March. This year October to now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Major failure of heated hose

The gfci plug was tripped on Saturday evening, and I reset it, but it tripped within 30 seconds. Sunday we tested and discovered our heated hose was the culprit. chronic waste tank odors in living space, bighorn...

Another thought to consider since you said running the furnace makes it noticeable — could there be a dead animal somewhere? Also, aged rv antifreeze can give off a distasteful smell. If possible flush all your lines and tanks, including outside shower and washer lines, and see if that helps...

Purchasing New Tires - 4 Plus the Spare?
