Another high end manufacturer bites the dust!!

Excel was a nice unit. I loved the hickory woodwork in their units. The dealer we bought several campers from was one of Excel's largest dealers. This is before we found Heartland. Excel was in the same price point as the Landmark and DRV. I like our Bighorn, but have always loved the Mobile...

Tear on roof of Torque 380 Need advice!!

Eternabond is very good stuff. If you clean the area good, round off the corners of the patch, it will last a long, long time. I had a tear in the roof on the radius edge on a SOB years ago that I patched with it and it never let loose anywhere. I ended up trading it for our first BH a few years...

Pull Test, Tug Test or No Test?

When I hook up I also place a padlock on the TS3 so there is no way the jaws can open. Just before taking off I do a full visual of hitch along with a complete walk around of everything.

    Bighorn MSRP

Re: Bighorn MSRP - Updated 27-Jan-2015 Now that's a funny one! I just checked a couple floorplans from the Sept. 2014 price sheets and it looks like an increase of $3255.00 in base prices. By the time we trade again they will probably be priced out of our range if this keeps up. Looks like...

    Show off your towing rig!

Ok, I'll bite. Nice looking combo. I pulled with a 1/2 ton for many years with no problems. When the fiver got bigger and heavier,it was time to get a bigger truck though.

    "CURT" Fifth Wheel Hitches ?

Yes you can use your Reese rails, unless you have some very light duty ones. I don't think you would need to change them. Just look them over after towing a few times. If there are no issues, you are fine. You will like the Curt hitch. I had one for several years before going to a TrailerSaver...

    Local Tire Dealer on G614's

My local dealer gave me a quote a while ago on G614's that I thought was pretty good. I went back today to see if price is the same being we are only a couple months from the start on the 2015 camping season. I received a quote of $275.00/ tire. Mounting/balancing extra of course. Final number...

Bighorn Buyer's Opinions Wanted: Refrigerator Poll (Residential-style or RV-style)

I totally agree. We have never had a RV fridge that will keep as cold on propane while travelling as shore power. I view the residential option as a necessity on the next fiver. Heartland, I hope you will not make us look elsewhere by eliminating this option.

    Used pricing is crazy

Along with what scottyb said, options on your trade doesn't mean anything to them either. I had a couple of the "Mega" stores tell me that this model and floorplan is worth XXX amount no matter what it is equipped with on trade. To them a unit with level-up, paint, big fridge, 2 airs, etc. is...

    Popping level up ?

I hope they find a real solution. Our rig is doing the exact same thing and the Torco fluid fix did not last long either. I guess the next rig may have to have the electric levelling system like is used on the Stoneridge. It gets embarrassing when your neighbors ask what the heck the noise is...

    Air hitches

The air hitch is money well spent. I have had the TrailAir /TriGlide pin box on the the Bighorn for a couple of years. It was a big help, but I just added a Trailer Saver TS3 to the truck and it made a huge difference. They are not cheap but really worth it. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    Worn hitch pin

I am guessing that the hitch you have in your truck has the bar that slides to close the hitch to get that kind of wear. You may also want to consider a hitch that has the jaws that clamp around the pin. Curt makes a nice hitch with that type of jaw.

    Level Up System Popping

I tried the the Torco fork oil that Lippert suggested last year. It helped for a while but the popping came back on ours. I may have to try a second application. You may want to buy two quarts right away. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    Oakmont by Heartland?

We were in the Oakmont last Saturday that my dealer was able to get for a show. It was a very nice unit and the pictures in post #6 is the floorplan we were in. I would say it is nicer than the Silverado with more extras available. DW did not care for the light colored paneling on the ceiling...

Goodride tires- Anybody have experience with them?

I appreciate your response Don. I was just looking to see if anybody is using these and and had any feedback on this brand. The Goodyear dealer spoke highly of these and that is why I am asking the question. He also quoted me a price of $263/ea on the Goodyears. If I was travelling more I would...

Goodride tires- Anybody have experience with them?

I was at my Goodyear dealer today checking into the 614's and they told me they also now sell Goodride load range "G" 14 ply tires. They looked like a heavy duty tire and was about $90 cheaper than the Goodyear. They said they have had very good results from the people using them. Does anyone...

    2015 Bighorn Full Body Paint

The full body paint is very sharp looking as long as I am not the one that has to keep it clean with those dark colors. We have the partial paint on our 2013 and would like to see that as an option again along with lighter colors.

Trail Air tri glide and Trailer Saver Hitch Question

Yes it is used. I have not seen it yet and I thought it would have to be in excellent condition for me to buy a used one anyway. Thanks for the info on not being able to get parts for it though. Trail Air tri glide and Trailer Saver Hitch Question

I have a 2013 BH3585 with a Trail-Air tri glide pinbox and currently have a Curt 20K hitch. This is a good combination, but may have come across a deal on a Trailer Saver TS3 hitch. My question is if I would buy the hitch, would the air bags in both hitch and pinbox "fight" each other and make...

    Fight with opening windows

The bottom and side screws will help the most. Once you put a screwdriver in them and back them out you will see what I mean. Some will be too tight and others just about right. Let me know if that solves your problem. Good luck! Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

    Fight with opening windows

The fix to the window problem is to check the screws in the frame. Some of screws are way too tight and "pinching" the window as you try to open it. If you go thru each screw in the frame and adjust it, your windows will work perfectly. You may have to do this again depending on what extreme hot...

    Missing Features?

I know how to turn the light on to the motion sensing setting. What I was referring to was the fact that it does not sense the motion. You can walk back and forth in front of it multiple times before it finally turns on when you want it to.If you don't want it on it will pick up any motion outside.

    Missing Features?

I understand your frustration on missing features, as we got a few surprises on the last one as well. I don't think the keyless entry has been offered on the Bighorn for a couple years. That was one of the surprises we received and ended up with one from rvlock.com. I would recommend their lock...

    so impressed with new gateway!!!

I had a set of JT's on one of my previous campers and they are awesome. Best money you can spend to get it rock solid. We have the 6 point Level-Up now and it is not as solid as the one we had without level up but had JT's. I thinking of adding some electric stab jacks in the rear to see if that...

Has anyone seen the new 3755fl?

If anyone is interested in the 3755FL, I just found Lakeshore RV has one on their lot and pics on the website. I like it! Looks like it is missing a few of my requirements like Level-Up though. I think Heartland did a good job with this one vs. other brands front living floorplans. Can't wait to...

    furnace problem and propane regulator

It sounds like a bad regulator or a partly closed OPD on the LP tank. I had a bad regulator on my last one that did the same thing. One thing you could try is to shut off your tank, wait a few minutes, then try to SLOWLY turn the tank back on. I have seen the OPD on the tank partially close if...

    Dish TV or Direct?

X2. I have had both Dish and Directv and use the manual tripod. Once you get to know how set it up, they are about equal in effort to lock in the satellites. Directv HD is nicer than Dish in the fact you only need 1 cable and easier to send the signal to 2 or 3 different receivers.
