    Norcold - Propane Use

A week is a long time to run off batteries without recharging them. The amount of power needed for the initial setup of slides and jacks is going to put a nice dent in the battery. The furnace and hot water aren't drawing too much from the batteries as they just need to monitor when to turn on...

Would you tow this with a 1 ton short box SRW?

That’s a lot of RV for a SRW. The question isn’t really can the truck move it, it’s can it stop it reliably, or how comfortable is it going to feel when you get hit hard by a crosswind in the rain? I guess it would also come down to your usage as well. If you are only planning on shorter trips...

    Slide out lubrication...

Which parts of the cable system are you trying to lube? The cables should be free-floating and shouldn't be rubbing on anything. I could see lubricating the pulleys so they spin freely, but I think they would do better with more of a grease to make sure it stays in place.

What kind of slide is it? Different kinds of slide-out systems require different types of maintenance.

2017 North Trail 21 FBS Jack points

Trying to jack up the RV by the frame on the side of the road safely is going to be very difficult. There is a lot of concern that jacking up the RV by the axle could lead to bent axles, which is fair. I opted to buy a kit from Safety Jack, which includes a cradle attachment for the axle that...

Rv blog 2022 heartland milestone 370flmb

Hope you enjoy your 370flmb! We have the 2021 model and are a family of 8. The floor plan is great and it's nice having enough room to actually sit together as a family. We have had pretty good luck with it except for the cracks in the sidewall which we are still working with Heartland to get...

    Slide cable rubbing normal?

I don’t think it’s limited to Heartland. This slide system is used because it’s extremely light weight, and much cheaper than some of the other lightweight options. The issues are twofold. The installation must be fairly accurate so the alignment is right, and yearly maintenance (or more) is...

5th Wheel Length to Maximize Park Access

I think others have made some good points already about researching where you want to go. Our Milestone is just under 45ft and we have had some tight squeezes even though the site said we could fit. When you pull into a campground and all you see are pop up’s, and everyone is looking at you, you...

Lift 5th wheel with all 6 jacks?

My tote will often be right around the same height as my sewer port. I have just gotten good at manipulating the sewer hose to drain as much out as possible before disconnecting. It takes some practice, but it’s manageable. Just make sure you leave enough room in the tote since the sewer hose...

Keeping residential fridge closed on the road. Locks supplied do not hold.

Hope you found something that works for you. If not, we use a child lock on our fridge doors. We purchased them from Walmart. They have adhesive backings and have held the doors closed on some pretty rough roads. When we are not moving, we simply use a twist tie to hold it back and out of the...

Crack on outside of bedroom slide out

We have cracks in the corners of our front slides on both sides. Ours is a 2021 and still under the 3-year structural warranty. I initiated a claim last December and am still working on trying to get a resolution.

    Installing vinyl flooring.

I'm sure the MFG buys whatever the cheapest product they can get that looks alright. If you will be doing a large area, I think one of your biggest hurdles is going to be deciding how you keep it flat. When RV's are made in the factory, the flooring is put down first, and then everything is...

    X-Chocks/Wide-Trax?

There are two different versions of X-Chocks that are made to accommodate different spacing in axles. My first RV had a wide-spread axle setup, so I had to buy the X-Chocks that were made to spread out wider. If you look at the Amazon listings, it should say how far of a spread they will...

    2015 Bighorn Shower Door

Depending on how attached you are to having a door vs a curtain, we replaced our shower door with a curtain. For us, there wasn't enough room to give the kids a shower with the doors in the way. Could at least work as a temporary solution until you can find the parts you need.

What is the Wheel nut torques 2014 north trail with 14” wheels

After nearly losing a wheel, I would agree with this. If I do anything related to the lugs, I always check their torq the first 3 trips or so, then every 500 miles after that. I noticed once they settle in place, they don't often move, but sometimes I find one that does turn a bit.

Sink Falling Out - Design Flaw!

The sink also started falling out of our Milestone around the 2 year mark even though it had the clips. I took the sink out, cleaned off old the old adhesive, ordered some additional clips off Amazon, and put everything back together. I actually had to do this twice, it was a huge pain in the...

AC breaker pops after extended period

I would agree with what others have said about the incoming voltage. I have a Hughes surge protector with Bluetooth that allows me to see the input voltage and amps being used. One campground in particular was terrible and would drop to a dangerous 90 volts. Once the voltage drops below 110, the...

    Roof Issues

Never use Flex Seal on the roof. It looks nice at first, but will quickly dry out and crack up in the sun. The original owner for our first RV tried using that to cover up the seals, which ended up causing a huge headache for me. If the plywood is spongy in a small spot, you could potentially...

    2021 Milestone Wall Cracks

Just thought I would post an update about our experience with trying to get this fixed. I'm not sure if we are any closer to a resolution on this. We just seem to be going in circles with Heartland. I had a service center in FL look at the unit back in January where they determined there were...

    Texas Trailers in California

We have Texas plates and drove through most of California last year on our way north, and then through most of it again on our way south and didn't run into any issues. We have a clean level rig that looks like it's in good shape and I follow the 55 MPH towing speed limit. Plenty of truck...

    Common Leak Spots

I can’t give any advice for your specific model, but in my previous travel trailer, water was coming out of the seam between the wall and floor, I thought it was from the window right above it, but it turned out to be a bad roof leak that was traveling down the wall and escaping right above the...

    Hanging Pictures 2022 Bighorn

We use command strips everywhere! Make sure to clean the surface really well before adhering the strips for best results. For picture frames, I found that Walmart sells cheap plexiglass versions that weigh almost nothing. They may not be as fancy as a normal frame, but it doesn’t add weight to...

Blue Ox: New 5th Wheel Hitch

I have the Andersen as well, I like how easy it is to connect and disconnect at any angle, and how easy it is to remove from the truck if I need the extra space to haul something around. The Fifth Wheel also tows really nicely with it, although it's the only hitch I have used with it, so I don't...

    Who Insures you?

I currently have 3 vehicles insured through Geico including our Milestone. I have never had to file a claim with them, so I don't know how great they are service-wise, but I do know my rates are going up by 40% in January. I called them to ask why, and they just gave the generic answer of...

    tire pressure

I hate how much thought I put into my tire PSI, but I think it's worth it. When we are ready to travel, I look at the current PSI, and the current temperature in the area, then look at the temperature where we will be heading. Sometimes it's a pretty big difference, especially when elevation is...

    Serious build quality issues

You just nailed the problem on the head. In most states, RV’s do not get the same protection that automobiles do. If the laws were the same, we would most likely see a dramatic drop in manufacturing defects. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2021 Milestone Wall Cracks

That's pretty much the exact response I got from most of the ones I spoke to. They were already booked out for months and didn't want to make it worse with units that didn't even come from their location. It's been an interesting experience seeking outside help for repairs as I have been...

    2021 Milestone Wall Cracks

It seems that RV dealers don't want to look at your RV if you didn't purchase it from them. I found one that said they would look at it, but were 3+ months out. I ended up finding a service location in FL that is just for service, and not part of a dealership. I was able to get an appointment...

    2021 Milestone Wall Cracks

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping they would see the cracks and have us come right to Indiana, but they want us to take it to a service center first to have it inspected, which I get, but I’m worried about burning a bunch of time trying to find a dealership who will look at it and then...

    Structure

On our previous RV, I had to take a good portion of the ceiling down and got to see the joists. It was a combination of wood and aluminum. Where the roof met the front cap, there was wood, which probably gave better support for the screws on the roof holding the front cap down. The rest of the...

    2021 Milestone Wall Cracks

Looks like we are getting cracks in our walls on our 2021 Milestone 370flmb. It sounds like something is being forced back into place on one of the slides as it goes out, so I am assuming a weld has broken inside the wall. I am disappointed as I thought they had this issue fixed on the newer...

    Lipo Battery Questions ?

I would assume you could replace it with a lower amperage unit, it just wouldn't charge your batteries as quickly after they are drained, especially while you are actively pulling current from the batteries. If you can, you may want to measure your amperage draw under max load and ensure you...
