    Any other 3160 EL Owners?

We just purchased a 3160 EL. It's a new model and as far as I know, I have the only one in the Northwest. It was brought in for the Seattle RV show two weeks ago. It's a perfect layout for us and we are delighted not only with the camper, but with the wonderful people at Heartland. This forum...

ATF: Bighorn - Coax schematic for 2014 3160

I received updated schematics which are helpful to a point. I am working on doing a satellite install. I know everything I need to know about that. There are two RG6 jacks in the bedroom closet (sorry no photos yet, at the service department right now getting prepped). These don't appear on any...

Last chance to make hitch decision

My dealer's service manager did his homework with hitch suppliers and found that the Companion hitch has no known problems. We are going with the Companion non-slider. It turns out the $1,800 I paid for hitch and install is really a good deal. Just buying the hitch and the kit to install it on...

ATF: Bighorn - Coax schematic for 2014 3160

Apparently, the factory isn't answering. Is there a way to get the schematic?

Last chance to make hitch decision

That's good to hear. As a newbie to fivers, I am assuming I will screw up a few times. My dealer prefers Reese hitches, but is willing to the B&W. Since I know nothing, this is a real "adventure". Bob

    Sway Controls

Our F150, now F350 has the so-called sway control. It uses the stability control's yaw sensors. It can NOT stop the trailer from swaying. It does try to stabilize the truck by selective brake application on individual wheels. It really can't get the trailer under control on its own. Only once...

    Sway Controls

Prior to getting to a fiver, we had a 27' TT. We had an EqualIzer hitch with friction sway control. It is effective up to a point. When we travel, we cross the Cascade mountains or often stay within the range. There are a lot of crosswinds and heavy vehicle traffic. The friction anti sway works...

    Clearances and tailgate question

Re: Clearences and tailgate question I looked at the listing for different hitches, etrailer.com quotes the B&W companion with under bed mounting kit at $1788. My dealer agreed to use that hitch and charged me $1800. I have a great dealer.

Last chance to make hitch decision

Based on what I am reading, I don't plan to get a slider. The salesman tried to talk me into it. By the way, slider or not, the cost was the same to me.

Last chance to make hitch decision

The dealer doesn't stock the hitches. They use Reese as a rule. The service manager and sales manager are fine with what I pick. The service manager put a call into a trusted resource about the B&W companion hitch. He did so at my request. Based on my reading here, the B&W seems to be the choice...

The connector is part of my deal with the dealer. It should be plug and play for me. I am asking to add the Blue Ox Bedsaver.

Last chance to make hitch decision

Our Bighorn 3160 Elite is heading over to the service department today for prep. Since this is our first fiver, we will be getting a hitch too. We have a 2014 Ford F350 4x4 crew cab, short bed, lariat diesel. I asked the sales department to set us up with a B&W Companion hitch. This morning, I...

    Problems with new Heartland Sundance

I'm not as forgiving. Our trucks and my Mustang are the first American vehicles I purchased in more than 25 years. I went to Japanese cars because I was tired of warranty work. It isn't that a company doesn't repair its errors, it's that there are errors in the first place. In that 25 years I...

ATF: Bighorn - Coax schematic for 2014 3160

I've found and reviewed the posted schematic but it doesn't correspond to our new RV. There are two f-connectors in the bedroom closet. They aren't in the drawing online. There appear to be additional f-connectors near the living room tv. Is it possible to get an updated drawing?

    Extended warranty $5000.00

We just signed the papers on our new fiver. We did buy a 7 year extended warranty. It is $100 deductible and cost well under $5,000. It covers virtually everything. If we never need it, we will be very happy. You buy insurance to limit risk. Since so many repairs can easily cost over $1,000, it...

    Problems with new Heartland Sundance

I have to say that I am tired the "earthquake" excuse. I haven't taken delivery of my Bighorn yet and I will do a careful PDI. We went through it today before dealer prep. It needs work. Some of the obvious problems could be transport, but the vast majority are workmanship issues that should...

    3160 water heater controls

Mike's is similar to ours. We have the distinction of getting a brand new model: 3160 Elite. We are waiting for the dealer to finish prep, not that there is any rush. We have a lot to learn. It's so new that the Heartland specs are not correct. We just learned we have 7,000 lb axles. It explains...

Ford F250 Back Up Camera Relocation

Has anyone figured how to run the extended harness cable to the back of the 5th wheel? Clearances and tailgate question

I am brand new to FW Rv'ing. We had a Kodiak TT and are about to close on a Bighorn 3160. We've never had a fifth wheel before and no nothing about hitches. Based on my reading, I have newbie questions: 1. We have a 2014 F350 SRW 4X4 lariat crew cab with the short bed. Are there leveling...

    Big Horn prewire set up

Right now I am just working out what I want to do. We have been RV'ing for a year now and we are trading up from a travel trailer. We have a Tailgater and used it all last season. There are a couple of issues with using it on the new FW: It can only feed one receiver. In our TT that wasn't a...

We just purchased a 3160. I want to do the satellite install. The electronics are no problem for me. I have many years of DirecTV experience. However, I have some questions about the roof install: Where are the cables under the roof covering? I know it was mentioned in another thread, but no...

We were one of directv's first customers (early 90's, I think), ew love it. We just bought a Bighorn 3160. It is prewired for the Travler. We hav 4 DVR's, no Genie. We can record 8 programs at a time. We have a Tailgater but Dish ends up costing over $100 a month. Two more DVR's will only add...
