Back from the lake but I didn't do any more measuring.I hadn't really noticed how unlevel the ground is for and aft and the front of the RV is a lot closer to the ground and that's why I can't back my truck under it.I did measure 48" from ground to white disk on 5th wheel but i'm thinking it...
That is a great looking hitch but I need to check to see about the 17.25 inches. We are going to the lake tomorrow so that will give me a chance to do some measuring and write everything down this time.I'm not in a big hurry for a hitch but I can almost hear Ruidoso calling my name. LoL
I'll try posting this again grrr.
Yes it seems our RV's are very similar along with out tow vehicles.I tried backing under our RV but the bed rails were too close so I stopped before I got too far under it.My grandson was in the bed of the truck and he measured just under the white disk down to...
I understand what you're saying and that's why i'm leaning towards the Curt. There is no way after doing some measuring that I can use the B@W with it's lowest setting of 17" and tow level and that's moving the pin on the RV up.I still have to maintain at least 5" between RV and the bed rails so...
I have been looking at 5th wheel hitches and since I got the factory hitch prep I have been looking at two so far.The Curt Q20 5th wheel and it has a 13 - 17 inch adjustment.B@W Companion 5th wheel and it's hitch height adjustment is 17 - 19 inches. The B@W has a higher rating of 25,000 lbs...
I'm interested in hearing a little more about your setup since my RV is wired for a backup camera.Once set up I should be able to view the camera on my radio when backing up if I can get everything installed.I do have some auxiliary switches I can use if necessary.
Thank you
That's what I was looking for and without knowing my pin weight now I have an idea.Heartland says mine is 2926 but that's before we started moving in LoL. I didn't order the air bags as I didn't think I would need them either.
Dave,I don't have a hitch in it yet but how much does yours drop in the rear when you hook your RV up to your truck ?.I'm trying to visualize how much drop I can roughly expect. Thank you.
Bill,we met a nice couple in 2009 while we were wintering in S. Texas with the last name of Knight. He had a 04 Dodge and if my memory hasn't failed me too much his RV was also a 08 Bighorn so now you see the coincidence ?.All these years I just took for granted it was you but now I need to go...
Bill, mine kept coming loose on the 3370RL so I took it off the wall and cut a 1X4 ,stained it to match the handrail and screwed it to the three studs then screwed the handrail to the 1X4.That solved my problem and it has been rock solid ever since and I plan on doing basically the same design on...
It has a black handrail on the right side of the steps going up to the bedroom and bathroom.Since I am dependent on a cane and the steps are a little wider I need a handrail on the left side of the steps also. They could not install the handrail and told me it was too much of a liability for them...
Congrats on the new RV and you will really enjoy it.We took our PDI yesterday and was presented with the keys.It is a beautiful camper and we will be taking it from the dealer this weekend.
A little update...
We went back to the dealer Saturday so the kids could take a closer look and help us point out things that might need fixing. The shop was locked and the personal there didn't have the shop keys, said the person that had the keys should show up soon.We decided to go look at...
My first new diesel 04.5 Dodge Ram with 92,000 mi and I hate to see it go but we got a new RV that is way too heavy for it.2016 Ram dually should be here in another month so I still get to drive my truck and i'm missing it already ...
When I had the 60 gl aux fuel tank/tool box combo installed in my truck I had it plumbed straight into my fuel system.A flip of a switch and i'm running on the auxiliary tank and reading how much fuel is in that tank using my truck gauge.Flip the switch and i'm running on the main truck tank and...
Wife is all excited and altho the paperwork is all done the PDI isn't scheduled yet and we arn't in that big of a hurry. It's supposed to be a wet and probably a rainy weekend along with too many wayward drunks on the roads. Most likely it will be the first Saturday in 2016 before we can start...
The kids have been looking at new RV's for a long time and they thought they wanted a Redwood. After a few friends told them of the problems people have had with them it didn't seem to phase them much.I started pushing them to go look at a Landmark but nooo, they wanted a Redwood. It took a month...
I found both fuses on the circuit board and they looked good as I could see all the filament in both of them.I guess I need to take them out and replace them to make sure.I also found the inline fuse in the wire bundle and it looked good but i'll replace that one to. We will probably be back to...
We left for a few days and I got in a hurry and I forgot to turn the water off.The water line going to the water valve to the ice maker developed a small split and water sprayed up on the tubes on back of the refrigerator and dripped on the water valve.I replaced the plastic tubing but the ice...
Re: Tetford toilet issues
We have had problems with ours since we bought the RV new.Occasionally we run into people that still have problems with the same model commode.Just last week we ran into a couple that bought a new RV 5 months ago and started full timing and their commode won't hold...
Lets talk about on the roof.Somebody recently told me that I have the Air Admittance Valves attached to the vent pipes on top of my RV.It's been a long time since i've been able to get on my roof but I don't remember them up there. Can somebody shed some light on this for me.I think it is just...
Why stick to drum brakes when you can have superior brakes ?.Read what this RV'er did after he checked into replacing his brakes.

Bearing buddy's work great on boat trailers and that is what they were originally designed for.I would not rely on anybody telling me " bearing tear down / inspection needed only every 5 years " as that is just looking for trouble!.
Do like I did after I locked myself out of my truck in Alaska in a remote area . I found a walmart and had a cheap key made that will just unlock the doors.I don't know if it will turn the ignition switch but it doesn't have the chip so even if it does it still wont start the truck.I ground...
One thing y'all have to remember is they use who ever they can get in the areas you break down in and they probably try to use the cheapest ones.We belong to GS and never have used them and hope we don't because of the stories I have heard and not all from here.I feel that once they say help is...
When we traveled to Ruidoso,NM we made it to Lubbock,TX for our stop for the night in a little over 6 hrs and just over 350 mi.That gave me plenty of time to setup, shower and go get fuel and eat and come back and walk around the rv park a little bit.If you travel with little ones I know it's a...
We went from Weekenders when we both worked to Mosttimers when we both retired as we kept our stick house. On Friday 13th,April 2011 I woke up and got out of bed but couldn't walk so we havn't been RV'ing since that time.It took months and many doctors visits before I found a dr. that knew what...
