Rally Update

Hi gang,

Hey, got good news. Jen (Dale and Jen) contacted me about doing badges. She is on board. Thank you Jen!

I've kept in contact with Larry prior to and since his surgery. I just got off the phone with him. His surgery was called a Laminectomy. During this procedure, the surgeon removed a quite large cyst. Pathology found it is NOT cancerous. Larry is on a lot of pain meds and has weeks of recovery ahead. He has received many emails, text messages and phone calls. He thanks you for that.

Larry also mentioned that they have received rally payment checks from several of you in the past week. Thanks for that too. If you are registered for this rally and have yet to send in your payment, please do so at this time. One less thing we need to chase down prior to the rally.

I am looking forward to visiting this area and my wife is coming with me on this trip. See you there!

Jim

Hi Larry:
It was good talking to you on Wed, here is the info I said I would post. John Grosshans and Mary Hawkins and our Sundance will be attending the Buelton ralley. Don't forget the Chumash Casino is just a hop-skip-and jump up the road for those interested and across the street from the Flying Flags park is the "world famous" Andersons Split Pea Soup restaurant. The "world famous" part is off the billboard.

Thank you Jen, Dave, Teresa, Jim G, and all of you who checked up on me for your good wishes on a speedy recovery. And Jenny you are so sweet for creating the name badges.
We now have more than 50 people signed up for the rally in Buellton, and its looking more exciting every day. Let all your fellow Heartlanders who aren't signed up yet know there are still more sites available.
Please let's get the appetizer and potluck dinner menu going. Who is making what? We have some great chefs so it should be delicious. Thanks everyone for contributing.

Buellton menu

I have been giving the menu some thought, and, fyi, I am bringing mini pulled pork sandwiches for the Saturday potluck, and I'm making a crock pot of beans for Sunday. I'm sure we will work off those calories, somehow. :D

Hello Everyone:

We are new to this and looking forward to making new friends and getting some help and advice. We have a 2009 BigHorn 3100RL. Buellton is where we live and run our cattle ranching operation so we don't have far to go and can run home for anything we forget!! We are planning on coming in on the 13th and staying until Monday the 16th. Thank you for contacting us Larry - this sounds like a great group and we are looking forward to it!

Hi Larry -

It was good talking you earlier today!

We were up in Jackson at the rally last weekend and met a bunch of great folks! We're looking forward to seeing them (and you) next month. Here's our plan:

Arrive Friday in time for the Italian dinner

Leave Monday to head home.

We will have my folks staying with us: Jim and Ethel Brown. They were full-timers for about 15 years, but have been in the garage for the last few years. It's time they got out again...

We don't know what we'll have for the pot lucks, so will have to let you know later. We'll also be available as a non-drinking driver for wine-tasting tours or other forms of high-octane entertainment.

See you then!

Hi Larry,

Diane and I , (and SOBs) were at Jackson last week. A good time was had by all. It was obvious that some had more fun than others, Di and I had a GREAT time. We are going to have a better time next month (don't know how). Looking forward to it.

Exciting new information for the 2009 SoCal Buellton Rally!

Hi everyone,

I have some great news for all attendees of our SoCal rally this November:

Pismo RV is generously providing a new Landmark Grand Canyon to show for all to see, touch and feel Friday thru Sunday. There will be a salesman who will introduce, provide a walk-through and answer your questions regarding this awesome new unit.

Pismo RV has also graciously decided to sponsor the Friday nite catered Italian Dinner Buffet. BYOB. Water will be supplied. Everyone will receive their refunds in their rally packets upon check in at Larry and Debbi Kuhn's Wagon Master site next to Clubhouse 2.

Saturday Potluck Dinner: Please bring a yummy dish for us to enjoy. Please post your dish and please make enough to feed at least 10 people.

Sunday Night Dinner: The SoCal Chapter will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and water for all to enjoy a relaxing last night evening dinner. Please bring your favorite side dishes: appetizers, salads, and desserts. Plates, napkins, utensils and condiments will be supplied.

All helping hands needed for small and large projects to help out for rally functions. Volunteers signed up so far are Peggy, Diane, Jenny, Cindy, Lucy, Stacy, Joyce and Teresa as well as our strong men, Butch, Art, and Arthur. Some of the projects are: setting up and putting away the tables and chairs, decorating our clubhouse, BBQers for the Sunday night dinner, setting up food in the kitchen and cleaning up after dinner for Saturday and Sunday. I am sure there will be other small duties that need to be attended to, so we never have enough volunteers.

Anyone wishing to arrange and participate in rally golf and winery trips please post so that others can join in with the fun. We may also need non-drinking drivers to chauffer the wine tasters.

Please read the main rally thread as many important items have been changed or updated.

Thanks everyone in advance for all your participation. This rally will be as great as all the people make it.

Fun!

Larry, this rally is getting bigger and better! Way exciting to hear about the Landmark Grand Canyon that Pismo RV is bringing over! Will be fun to check it out! Dale and I will probably just drool all over it! Also nice of them to be sponsoring the Italian Dinner! And pizza, etc. too! Yahoo! I plan to bring a pasta dish for the potluck dinner on Saturday and probably a salad to go with it. Maybe garlic bread or rolls, depending how much room I'll have in the fridge! Get better faster! November is around the corner!

;)

Hi Larry -

Good news about Pismo RV picking up the tab for Friday's dinner. Rather than a refund, I wonder if you could apply the 4 dinner amounts and the $18 for my no-show folks to an extra day's stay. We would like to come down Thursday rather than Friday. I will contact the resort and change our reservation, if this is OK with you.

Thanks!

Hi Larry -

I just spoke with Sandy at Flying Flags and added Thursday the 12th as our arrival date.

We're really looking forward to our maiden voyage in our 5er.
