2021 Bighorn Satellite Connection

Hello
Hoping someone can help. I’m trying to help ok up a satellite in the living room. I connected the the dish to the input and placed jumpers on the 4 coax connections. Above the tv there are 2 coax connections, 1 is being used and the other is not. I have tried to hook the walley to each of the connections and I’m not getting a feed from the dish at all. Any ideas?

If you have an ohm meter then check your cables for shorts, mine had two on the same cable. Try establishing your satellite connection directly, using a short cable, to ensure proper operation. Don't forget that there is a barrel connector as the cable passes through the frame under the slide.

I have a similar problem! I hope someone can give me suggestions! I have a 2022 model North Trail. Cable TV works fine however, when I connect Dish King and Walley, to the cable port, I don't get any signal to Walley. Is satellite coax any different than the cable coax?

When doing the satellite make it the simplest to start and know the system works. Run coax directly through a window to the Dish antenna , aim and tune . If it works that way, then you can move up to trying to get the installed cabling to work.

RG-6 rated for satellite has a much higher high frequency capability than OTA TV RG-59 coax: 2150 Mhz for Satellite TV, 800mhz for OTA TV.

Yes, Dish works fine when connected to Walley directly. However, there is no signal comes to Walley when disk is connected to the trailer's cable port on the side of the trailer.

Just like roadjunkie said: check out the installed cabling with a DVM continuity meter. First with both ends of coax disconnected, put probes between center pin and shield - should be no continuity (no shorts across cable). Next use small wire, jumper clip, or assistant to short across one end of coax tip to shield. Put continuity meter probes between tip and shield on other end of coax - there should be continuity indicating that the conductive path is complete through both shield and center conductor of the coax. You can use the 2nd check to identify which cable is which by listening for the continuity tone while shorting the coax connectors at the other end.

Coax installation errors are a very common report on this forum.

There is a difference between TV cable RG-59 and the satellite cable, RG-6. Also, if your rig is equipped with a satellite coax cable you should use the satellite in input.
