For those of us not prewired (2015) is it just a matter of drilling hole and running wires to running light and driving with lights on? It’s about time I get a camera I will be backing into garage soon!
if the camera delivers its picture via RF signal. you can use power from any source to power up the camera... but then the camera is on anytime the circuit you pull from is active... some cameras have dry cell batteries in them, and can be shut off using the receiver (base/display unit).... and some have to be hard wired all the way... so it does depend on what you buy.
I've been eyeing this one as of late for my Oakmont. It replaces one of the rear marker lights and draws power from the lighting system. I typically run with my parking lights or headlights when traveling, so that's not too much of an inconvenience for me.
