Companion Hitch Question

I have a Draw-Tite companion hitch that I was recently told that once I have it in and pinned. I should tighten down on the nut to pull the center shaft up tight against the pin that goes through the hitch mount and then tighten the adjustment bolt on the side to hold it in place. The problem with this is you can't pull the pin to lift the hitch out without loosening the 2 nuts to allow it to drop down some.
Does others tighten it once installed or are you able to pull the pin out and just lift it out anytime you need too?

I don't know about draw-tite, but B&W companion recommends like 70ft/lb on the nut to tighten the center shafts to the pin....so it don't accidentally release....and yeah you have to loosen it to remove the hitch....not sure on a draw-tight
