Sandy, the Corgis and I will make reservations as soon as she can request time off of those days. but that won't be until Feb or March. and the hospital is changing how schedules are made before then so we have no way of knowing if it will be her weekend or not.

Hopefully Sandy can get those days off. We know how scheduling goes and what a pain it can be to have to live by someone else's idea of where we should be. :D

Hi Kristy,
Yes, you have seen many of us in various rally pics with our green sweatshirt hoodie with zippers from last years OR rally. In fact many people who attended wished they had gotten one. It's great here in so cal in the rain as well. I believe if you should consider long sleeve tee shirts with logos or maybe a different color sweatshirt, no hood or zipper, with logo, if you were able to choose one or the other.

I hope you have a RV gift raffle as that is so much fun, and winning a $15 gift gives you that exuberance of winning the lottery without the millions. LOL Also on the last day you could have a money raffle, with several winners. Just make it up as you go. Our Sunday money raffle had 4 winners of $52, one of $40 and the So Cal chapter took home $52. Also if you are being compensated from Heartland a certain amount, and having a potluck etc., you shouldn't have to charge a surcharge IMHO.

Whoever is considering going to the OR rally, it is a blast, and the Californians can all meet up in Redding, to 7 Feathers in Canyonville, OR and on to Winchester Bay, OR. Last year we went from 5 rigs from Redding, to 11 rigs in 7 Feathers and I organized a 10 person dinner in Redding of just folks going to the rally. If you are a CA or NV and want to join this year's caravan at any point, please contact me for the days.
Fyi, we will be staying at JGW Campground in Redding, from June 5th, 2 nights, and 3 nights starting the 7th in 7 Feathers. On June 10th we will be making the short 100 mile drive from Canyonville, into Winchester Bay. All interested please let me know after you have gotten reservations, and I will set up another dinner with Deb Duryee.

Kristy, as usual Debbi and I are looking forward to seeing you guys again real soon. Mark told me last nite it's been snowing in Klamath Falls, and he set a record of snow blowing 7 driveways in one day. Give that guy a massage, he has got to be sore.

Have you heard of a Bland Auction? The idea is we all bring a item worth $5 to $20 and place it in a large paper bag sealed. The group leader (insert Ziggy's name) gets an item worth $60 to $70 and places it in a large sealed paper bag. Then we all bid on each bag without knowing whats in them and no one can open what they got till after the last one is sold. We should be able to raise enough cash to pay for the $70 item with plenty left over for the chapter. Oh and the bid for each item will start at $5 as that is assumed to be the least amount of anything in the bags :) Drop me a note if you need any info on this.

Go away cold I want to play!!!

Did you mean a blind raffle? I haven't ever done one but it sounds like it could be fun.

Well not exactly, with a raffle you just buy tickets and draw from a hat, what I'm talking about is an auction with each item going to the highest bidder. The fun comes from not knowing what you got till the end.

Oh and before I forget, anyone have a spare set of eyes for my fingers so I can see what I'm typing?

Mark and Kristy,

Please add Sob’s Jim and Linda Vollstedt to the rally list. They have reserved site #73.

Please be advised to keep the oysters away from Barnard since he'll hog practically all of them. :D

By the way, are you aware of the Oregon Chainsaw Sculpting Championships on Father's Day Weekend in Reedsport, OR?

Welcome to Jim and Linda! Will they be arriving and departing the same dates you are Jim and Lucy?

Unfortunately, we are losing a couple too. Big Al and Donna have had to cancel due to family commitments.

That does open up a nice site if anyone wants it though. Just call the office and let them know if you want #68 instead of the one you have.

I didn't realize the chainsaw carving championships were the next weekend. That would be a fun thing to do for those who are still in the area over Father's Day. Thanks for the heads-up!

Try to stay warm as we work to make it through the winter so we can go camping.

"I called Winchester Bay to cancel my reservation and she told me to check with you to see if anyone else wants site 68. If they do, they will transfer the fee to them and whoever gets the site can pay me. What do you think."

Al

Big Al sent me this email today. Parks don't usually do this kind of stuff when they could just keep the deposit money and sell the site again.

So, does anybody want this waterfront site (#68) that the Larsons have to give up?
(GONE!)

If so, call the park and let them know and they will switch you over. Talking directly to Dotie would probably be the best and she is only there during the week. Then let me know so I can update your info and give you the contact info for the Larsons so you can arrange with them to pay them for their deposit.

Tell them you are with the Heartland Group and that they may need to look under Carlson to find it.

Try to talk to Dody, but the others are supposed to know what is going on.

Winchester Bay is waiting for people to call for reservations. We are trying to keep everyone in the sites numbered in the 60's and 70's. Its after the Nov. 15 date they agreed to set aside those sites, but you may still get in the area, so don't be discouraged.

Waterfront are first come-first served. Mark and I are in #63. There are a limited number of waterfront sites because I asked that we all be put in the middle section of the park.

If you really want waterfront and can't get one in our area, you will be separated from the rest of us, but its not that big a place and walking between sites is easy.

All sites are full hookups. Rates are subject to change.

Waterfront Sites - all back-in $36 per night

Pull Throughs - not on the water, but within sight, $33 per night

First night payment due at time of reservation. Seven day cancellation notice. Twenty dollar cancellation fee unless its after that 7 day period, if you cancel after that 7 day period, forfeit your first night fee.
The site has details about this policy.

If you know the Oregon Coast, places get busy in the summer, thus the cancellation policy. But June is not as busy as July, call and check for vacancies even if you make a last minute decision to join us.

Mark and I will arrive June 10 and stay about a week. We are in waterfront site 63.

Dody said they would allow us to put up a wind barrier and/or temporary dining tent to help in case the weather "goes all Oregon on us." We'll be using the big grassy area near the playground and putting green for our gatherings. I'll have a backup plan (Community Hall) in case it rains or is cold and windy. Hopefully the weather will cooperate, but you never know on the coast.

Please post or PM me when you call to make your reservation so I can keep a count and figure out activities. I also would like to have your email address, phone number, home city and state, RV model, names, number of people with you, arrival date, departure date, and site number. Don't give me anything you aren't comfortable sharing and its always better to share personal info by email or PM than to post it on the forum.
Please check the Schedule of Events Thread for Updates.

Thanks Everyone! See you in June!

We made our reservations finally. We'll be in site #75. We are planning on heading straight to Winchester Bay from our current spot in WA.

Ohh Noo!!! Three Corgis! :) JK, Lucy is a sweetheart. Kristy's little black one, however, will eat your feet. :)
Can't wait to go. Been nothing but rain here, looking forward to a trip someplace. Anyplace... LOL

Oh Deb! Cassie is a sweetheart other than she is still afraid of people she doesn't know. However, she does like to nibble on people she does know! Besides, she wouldn't have been able to eat feet if someone hadn't been mixing the lemonade with vodka!:D

Alan and Sandy, It will be great to meet you and Molly and Baxter.

PS If you noticed that the info post for the rally is now #53, its because I had to update the format of the thread to the new system. I thought it was in the new format, but something happened...:rolleyes:

Anyway, there is no way to move my original post to the top of the thread. I will keep updating it but it looks kind of funny where it is.

Here is a direct link to that post so you can bookmark it if you want to.

OK. I just counted up and Deb's NorCal rally is bigger than the Oregon rally so far. We can't have that!:eek::D

We need more OR people along with WA, BC, ID, NV, CA, and anyone else who wants to drive out to the far left coast! We had 22 rigs last year. Maybe we can beat that this year.

Now for Business :):)
We are approaching the time when we really need to talk about how to pay for supplies. Supplies last year were a little over $300. Profits from the rally sweatshirts and the raffle covered that. It also gave the people who bought them a nice sweatshirt to wear during (and after) the rally that has the Oregon Heartland Owners Club Chapter Logo on it. This year the shirts would either be a crew neck sweatshirt or a long sleeved t-shirt. I don't mind taking orders and getting shirts ordered, if that is what people want to do. Another thought is to just charge a rally fee. Easy, but not very fun...

Either way we will still do a raffle or two just because they are fun. Each trailer, please bring a prize valued between $10 and $15 to put in the raffle. We had a really good time with the raffle last year and people won lots of really nice prizes.

We'll have an appetizer get together on Friday night and a potluck on Saturday night. We'll try to do campfires both nights. I'm thinking Mark would like to rent ATV's and go play on the dunes for a couple of hours. Let me know if you are interested in that.

I know Dale likes to play golf and we may be able to talk him into organizing a golf game.

I could organize a group sand dune tour in huge dune vehicles driven by people who work at one of the places just north of Reedsport. That would be a way to get out on the dunes for those of us not willing to run around at high speeds on a self driven ATV.:eek::eek:

The botanical garden just north of Coos Bay (south of Reedsport) is beautiful and there is a casino just north of that if anyone wants to make a trip to either of those places.

I just need to know what people want to do so I can set it up for us, so be looking for a poll or two asking for your opinions sometime on the next few days.

Take Care!

Kristy, I was hoping that those who like to golf will bring their stix. There is a very nice 9 hole course in Reedsport. If others will join me I would be glad to set it up. We will also go play in the dunes. If anyone has not done this, it is a kick. We are looking forward to the Rally. The Oregon coast is beautiful and fun.

Golf in the dunes? Sounds like a big sand trap! That should even the playing field for those who don't golf much or just consider it an excuse to drink adult beverages.:D

Thanks Dale!

Just in case you haven't seen it yet, there is a poll set up for the funding question.

Here is a link so you can give your input.

Thanks!
