Thanks! I am really comparing the Traeger Tailgater, Green Mountain Davy Crocket and the Rec Tec Trailblazer. If the Rec Tec wasn't so darn expensive it would be a no brainer, however since it is, I am really trying to figure out if it is worth the extra money, or if I save big money and go with the Davy Crocket or stay in the middle with the Traeger. My friend has the Traeger Tailgater and on days where the ambient temps outside are really cold the Traeger won't keep to low smoke settings and shuts off unless he turns it up. I don't personally know anyone who has the Davy Crocket, so I am only going on the reviews online and here. Jim and others on the form rave about the Rec Tec, so I am now kind of leaning that way. Its just such a huge chunk of change.

Hello Rod. Have a Davy Crocket wifi here. Cook outside when it is -20C as you could expect pellet consumption goes up. Works fine. No issues with it at all.i have had it 3 years now. GMG always travels with us in the front bay.
This is not my first smoker, also have a Bradley chest smoker with Biscuits for fuel. Electric element inside and the biscuit is heated by a element. This can cold smoke cheese or salmon with ease. I can do 6 full racks of ribs in it as well.
lol, yes I have a crane.doesn't need a jib crane to load/unload
Hey Rod the RecTec Grill website has the Trailblazer on sale right now for $599...just saying.

I just took advantage of that yesterday and ordered it with free shipping and 80#s of pellets.
You guys are costing me money. Thinking seriously of the Davy Crockett since it is on sale for $299.
Question: How is it for just cooking burgers, steaks, chicken etc? What is cleanup like after using one? How much can you cook on one? Looking at like a turkey breast, small stuff like that, just for 2 people.
Tony has cooked burgers, steaks and chicken on our Davy Crockett. They came out wonderful! I am so spoiled now, it's pellet grilling or nothing for me.
As far as cleanup, He said it's not any harder than any other grill. You do have to vacuum out the ash every 3rd or 4th use (with a wet-dry vac). We also invested in some storage containers to hold different flavors of pellets.
We can cook 4 big ribeyes on it at once. Two slabs of baby-back ribs at once. And 8 burger patties at once.
Hope this helps!
