Generator Service

Well of course right after I bragged about my generator purring like a kitten, when I fired it up last weekend it sputtered and died.

Luckily I was just exercising it and we were on the way to tailgate where we have a power pole. I committed an error by firing it up with only 1/4 tank of old gas even though it was Seafoamed.

I bought a new fuel filter at the Cummins dealer and swapped it out. After a few starts of it sputtering, I guess until the old gas in the line was replaced with fresh fuel, I'm sitting at 30 minutes of run time without a stall or sputter. Now I'll hook up and head out boon-docking.

I checked at the Cummins dealer and a tune up that includes replacing the plugs was going to be 2 hours @ $130 per, plus another two hours if the had to pull the unit. I guess it's time to get this done.
