Does anyone know what this red 'thing' is called? I had a rat problem awhile back I'm im pretty sure one chewed through the casing causing water from the main line to spew out and leak onto the ground under my rv

Looks to me that someone needed to join two hose ends and used what was on hand at the time...

It's a 2009 heartland landmark pinehurst, I believe. No, I'm not the original owner. Here's a pic that shows more of how it's connected.

Someone capped off that line. They jerry rigged something cause they didn’t have the correct parts or didn’t know how to cap it.

That is automotive heater hose. Remove the whole mess and replace the T with a splice.

Just unscrew at the black threads and replace with a 1/2” mip brass plug, like this below. Look at the cone washer in the coupling nut. If it’s deformed, you may need to replace that. Easy peasy.

Won't work, the plug is solid on the bottom, must be hollow with a bevel on the inside for the seal to work. You could use a nipple with a cap to plug it off.

I'm wondering what was that line connected to from the factory. All of it looks to be factory installation up to the red hose & maybe the black fitting. Appears it was connected to another flexable hose/line with that white fitting.
