Hydraulic slide operation

I work on a 110' ladder truck. I know it pretty well, better then most on the department.

We also have guys that "know it well".

To get the hydraulic tank we have to lift the ladder, which means all the outriggers are out.
One of our "special knows it" filled the tank with the ladder up and legs out.
It was 6 months before all the oil stopped dripping off the body and frame.

Point is, it is good to know what the level is with everything retracted, landing gear only deployed and everything deployed (rooms and LevelUp jacks).
Try it and sharpie the tank.

I made two marks on my tank. One with the slides out and one with the slides in. Easy to check the level at any time.
