Key West

The DW and I are planning on heading down to the Keys sometime next month and have reviewed several campgrounds on line. The one that really attracts our attention is Leo's Campground & RV Park http://www.leoscampground.com.

Anyone of ya'll stayed there before, or can recommend one in the area?

Never stayed there, but passed it many times...looks OK, but sites/access looked rather small...but their prices are GREAT for that area!! I'd give it a shot....

Wish we were going with you...that's my favorite place of anywhere we've been...bar none!!

We stayed here last November http://www.bluewaterkey.com/. We looked at a lot of parks when we were there, this one is worth the extra you pay for. Private sites, most ocean front with private boat dock, Tiki hut, all individually owned and decorated/landscaped different. Has laundry, swimming pool, all paved roads, concrete pads, gated with a pass code give at check in, and just 12 miles north of Key West. A thing to remember if your tow vehicle is over 20' long, while in Key West, it is illegal to park on the streets of Key West. This is not just a simple parking ticket, it is a ticket, tow and impound. We were talking to a couple that thought they had their truck stolen, this is how they found out. Also read a article in Trailer Life on Key West reminding me of the little known law. I didn't, but found it almost impossible to find a spot for us to fit in ( we are 24' long ), we found a bank parking lot and asked the folks inside if we could park there, they gave us the go ahead.

Back in Dec. we stayed at the Jolly Roger on Marathon http://www.jrtp.com/index.html It seemed pretty nice, kind of cramped to what we are used to, but it was liveable, and we were able to put out our slide, and awning with no problems. The only drawback was that with the speed limit (we saw numerous officers running radar) it seemed like it took forever to get to Key West.

Spent a week last Feb. at Grassy Key RV in Marathon. Very nice park that was completely redone a couple years ago. We went into Key West once during the week and it is a bit of a ride but we were happy to just stay in the Marathon area. Lots of restaurants, etc.

I agree with hofler about Blue Water RV. We stayed at Blue Water Key last year. We stayed there in May. It is a very nice place. Off season cost us $70 per night. We only stayed two nights. I would also recommend it for as long as you can afford it. It really isn't much more than the others that have gravel. There was a new park that just opened up on the West side of the road as we were traveling to Blue Water RV. Call Blue Water RV and get all the information. They request that you call them when you are a certain distance out and they will be sitting outside the gate in a Cart and will escort you in. You don't stop at the office. You don't have to check out. They are there to help you. Had fun sitting on the boat dock (part of the site), watch TV, keep beer in the refer in the TiKi Hut.

Help us find that special couple who can come join us in making our guests welcome and comfortable. Please forward this email to any of your friends who might wish to work in the Keys! We are betting that many of our guests have met a couple somewhere in your RV travels who would love to be living and working in Key West!

Thanks for all the input ya'll gave on campgrounds in the Key West area. After looking at all available places we decided to book a week at the Bluewater Key RV Resort. http://www.bluewaterkey.com/.

Can't wait to get there. We've been to Key West several times, and still love going there!!!!!
