Leelanau Pines, Lake Leelanau RV Park, Traverse City State Park. These parks are in a beautiful part of Michigan!

HIDDEN RIDGE RV RESORT near Hopkins, MI is a very very nice campground. All concrete pads, swimming pools and a nice fishing lake. HL had a rally there in 2012. Highly recommend it, but may be a bit pricey.

Before we left Michigan for Colorado (and before we got into RV'ing), I was into boats.

We used to go up to Lake Leelanau a lot (mid to late '80s) . . . awesome place!

I think the campground we went to was Leelanau Pines . . . was on the west shore of the lake about in the middle of the lake (north to south).

We did tent camping back in those days . . .

We are thinking about making a Michigan trip with our Heartland Trail Runner sometime in the next couple of years and will probably spend most of it up north, and a few days in Jackson to see the inlaws.

Our Michigan Rally will be at Pancho's Pond in Ludington 6-26-29. come join us. This is our second trip there for the Michigan Chapter. It is real nice campground and they are giving us a great rate. Hope to see you there

I have added many campgrounds to the Midwest camping group. I have visited but have not stayed at most of the ones documented in the Michigan section. Most of the Michigan ones are from the southwest Michigan area, Specifically, in the South Haven/Covert/Allegan area.

The Allendale KOA near Grand Rapids is one of the campgrounds we stayed for nearly a week last summer.

There is more to Michigan than just the lower peninsula.. There is the Upper Peninsula, which you have to go over the Mackinaw Bridge.. It is truly God's Country, fresh air, beautiful country, Lake Superior is the most prettiest of all the Great Lakes and also there are very nice campgrounds from Mackinaw Bridge all the way west to Duluth.. Consider spending some time in the Upper Peninsula.

If it is real windy the day you are pulling your trailer over the bridge . . . think about finding a campground and waiting for the wind to die down.

Highway 2 (Roosevelt Highway) is an awesome drive . . .

Should be no problem pulling through there.

About 50 miles or so west of the Big Mac Bridge on Highway 2 is the Cut River Bridge . . . nice place to pull over and check out!

However, if you go north there is a whole lot more to the UP!

The Soo Locks (including the Edmond Fitzgerald Museum) . . . Tequomenon Falls . . . Pictured Rocks . . . Copper Harbor (the most northern point in the continental US of A) . . . a bunch of light houses . . . and so much more!

Here are some scans of film prints from the late 80's (don't have any from the Soo Locks handy):
