Moisture on Cooling Fins -- Dometic Frig

I looked through a couple of the user guides but didn't see this issue addressed.

Is it normal to have moisture (water drops) on the cooling fins of a 10 cubic feet Dometic frig? (The cooling fins are in the refrigerator section of the unit, not the freezer, if that matters.)

I am in an RV park at the coast but the internal humidity in the RV only runs about 65 percent.

If this moisture isn't normal, what type of problem is indicated and how is it correct?

Thanks!

It is normal. There should be a drip pan under the fins.
Look at the outside access panel and you should see a white drain tube.
Be sure it is routed outside through the vent.

Jeff, the drain tubes do go bad (fall apart), so you need to check it every so often. Other wise the draining water will be inside the coach.

There was an article in a Trailer Life magazine several month back about a fan, I think it was called smart fan, not sure though. Anyway, I purchased one and it works wonderful, I haven't had any build up since I installed it several month ago. I do have ice build up in the freezer from several months of not having to turn the fridg off and let all the ice build up melt. I'm not sure how I wanna tackle that but the fridg fan works GREAT.

We put in one of those generic fans off eBay (found out about them from other threads on this forum). Was easy to hook up and helps circulate the air in the fridge to keep more things cooler. Also seems to help keep the moisture down off the fins. Seems to improve how cold everything stays in there as well.

Thanks for all of the good tips. I was at the coast again this weekend and checked the fins. They did have some moisture drops on them but the drain pan itself was dry. No accumulation of water there and the drip hose outside was fully extended so I think everything is fine.

Being at the coast, the air is just more humid than when the RV was at home during the winter months.
