We just bought our first RV. We purchased a Torque TQ396 and will be pulling it with a 2015 Ford F250. This is our first RV so any information or pointers would be great. I have searched the forum for general info and lessons learned. Our biggest thing is trying to find places to go with our kids (5 and 9 yrs old). I have noticed there are a lot of group discounts when looking at site rates. What are some good groups to be a part of?

Hi Shawn-z400,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

Be sure and check out our Heartland Owners Club. Join us at a rally when you can and meet lots of the great folks here and make friends for a lifetime.

Enjoy the forum and your new unit.

Welcome to the group. Ask all the questions you want and the money is you will get an answer. Probably right too, GRIN. Seriously it's a fun group and very helpful. Remember the only dumb question is the one you don't ask.

Good luck with your combo.

Congratulations on your new toy hauler & welcome to the forum. There are more and more campgrounds adding youth related activity area like water parks and playgrounds. As for discounts, we are members of Good Sams club which has a lot of affilicated parks that gives discount from published fees. They also have a campground book that rates quality of each campground. Enjoy and travel safely.

Moved on to the next thing...
Join the Heartland Owner's Club . . .

And the KOA club is not bad, either.

KOA's tend to be set up better for kids than a lot of privately owned campgrounds.

I would suggest you buy ($507) a regional membership to Thousand Trails. You can then 'camp' at Thousand Trails Lake Conroe in Willis or Thousand Trails Columbus (Tx). You will be able to stay 14 days for free than you have to leave the system for 7 days then again 14 days etc. In the Southeast region there are 24 RV parks (they call them preserves) with one in Claremont, Fl only 20 minutes from Disney World. Think of staying 14 days for free 20 minutes from Disney. Wow. All of the Preserves have organized activites for the family and all of the amenities such as swimming pool, fishing, hiking etc. Check it out at www.thousandtrails.com
