norcold N811 not cooling

We bought our 37qb last year. Unimpressed with the fridge as it barely cools down. Most say to check for blockage on the rear of the fridge and on the roof vent, this rv doesn't have an exterior vent for the fridge, could that be part of the issue? Disconnected the thermistor also and will see where that takes things. Freezer seems fine and there are no codes. Thanks John

Hi johnnyretro,

If the freezer is cooling properly (down near 0 F), but the frig is not, the cooling unit of the frig is probably ok. While you might have a ventilation problem, that normally wold affect the freezer too.

The more common problems with cooling the frig are:
1) Keeping the doors open for longer than a few seconds. If you open the door and stare at the food inside for 40 seconds, it takes RV refrigerators a very, very long time to recover. On hot, humid days, it may take until the next morning.
2) Overpacking the frig, cutting off internal air circulation is a killer. Be careful about placement of large boxes or plastic covered items.
3) If the doors don't close completely or if the door seals are deformed, you'll have air leaks that will be just like leaving the doors open.
