North to Alaska

Summer of 2019 headed for extended visit to Alaska. Taking 32 ft Sundance 5th wheel. Could use any help and suggestions regarding campgrounds (private, provincial [Canada], state, national forest or national parks.'
Any other tips and suggestions greatly appreciated.

Buy a copy of the “milepost” guide, study it this winter, plan your route and trip!!
Enjoy it!! We did and are talking of returning in a few years

Remember one thing take your time, Alaska has been there a long time it will be there when ever you get there.

We went last summer. What an adventure with wonderful landscape, wildlife but issues as well. Dave is correct, take your time. We were planning to travel about 225 to 250 miles a day but ended up averaging about 150 to 175 miles. Here is the LINK of our trip.

For sure, get the Milepost magazine and study it closely... it has every conceivable site, camping spots, local information for every mile of your trip regardless of the route you choose. We took the Stewart Cassiar Highway going North, and enjoyed some side trips along the way, then The Alcan on our return trip. Our time in the State of Alaska was one month, but the trip through Canada was every bit as exciting...

Up the Cassiar Highway is a great way to go. Very little traffic and some beautiful camping. I don't know what you're looking for in the trip, but Skagway is way out of the way and is a tourist trap and major letdown. Anchorage was very busy and was just like any major city. Top of the World Highway from Chicken Alaska to Dawson City is definitely worth the trip! Have fun!
