Patio awning support arms

We have a 2021 heartland cyclone 4006, our rear patio has an awning with support arms that pop out and extend out….the trouble is, there is nothing for it to attach to, no support bracket. Some other posts/videos we have seen show a clip either on floor of ramp or by the side of the patio door above the tail lights. Is it possible these brackets just weren’t installed? Or am I overlooking them?

The support brackets on my 2018 are on each side, above tail lights about the height of the patio railing or a bit higher. It is very possible they were not installed!!

Happen to have a pic? Mine just has a scissor type arm on each side and nothing to support if I wanted to. I am not understanding how this system can have a support arm…

These aren’t the best pictures, but you can see what they they look like and where they go. This is on a 2019 CY4007. Awning is a Carefree brand. The side arms are stowed in the part that extends out (with the led light strip).

Interesting. Mine looks nothing like that. Mine has 2 sturdy bars on each side that scissor in and out to extend/retract. Much more sturdy than my side awnings actually.
Thanks for the pic.

Don’t have a pic of mine, but this pic is the same one I have on my 2020 Cyclone 4230.

Is yours the Carefree brand? Are you sure you don’t have the arms? They are somewhat hidden in the piece that extends out & stow above the led light on the awning (if I remember right!).

Looks just like mine. I’m surprised yours doesn’t have the side support arms.

Crazy! I just went back out and checked to be 100%, and nope, no provisions for any arms at all. Been using it this way for a year with no issues, but now I am a bit nervous to keep using it. I will say it is very sturdy the way it is tho. Is it possible that some are beefed up and don’t require the arms? When extended, I can’t reach the awning as it is too high. The ones with arms looks like they come out lower to me. See pic I posted of the cyclone a few above.

Pretty wild! You can see the channel where the supports could go. We are camping in ours right now & I can see Allen screws on the back of the extension arms (trailer side). I think if I adjusted these screws it would make the awning extend out higher (probably like yours). I think they intentionally leave the screws “loose” so the awning hangs lower & you are able to gain access to the side extension arms. Might be worth a call to Carefree just to see what’s going on! I don’t see a part number.
