This is a small but useful Mod.
We have a Tommy Bahama beach umbrella that we found at Costco.
I've been moving it around in my basement and had never really found a good home for it.
I had ordered a adjustable sewer storage tube for a different project and was looking at it and the light bulb went off.
I was going to mount it in the basement ceiling but I don't want it to be in my way when I'm in and out of there all the time.
So I decided to mount it underneath next to the stairs right next to my other tubes.

This adjustable tube from etrailer.com did not reach all the way across so a made a cross support to mount it to.

Dave I've had the little 110v welder for quite a few years now. I had bought it to weld up a aluminum stud in my toyhauler that I drilled into with a 4" hole saw. I was installing a access door in the side to get to my batteries. I taped it all off, traced out the door where I wanted it, check and rechecked it, drilled my first hole and hit a stud
So I bought the 110 welder because that was the only power I had in my garage at the time.
Well after my garage remodel last year and running 60amp into the garage and 50amp to the RV I now can run anything I want.
This new multi purpose welder from northern tool is really a perfect setup for any garage.

The right front corner you'll see the door I installed and right in the bottom corner you'll see the vent I had to install to cover my mistake. LOL


Before I installed the door you had to get to the batteries from the gen compartment. It was a PIA...

I'm thinking of doing a inset wall box in the back side of that wall behind the closet door
Then I can plug the charging stand in there and run the wire up inside the wall to the back of the charging stand.

Hopefully I will find a cheaper box.

It came out perfect.
Taking it to Line-X tomorrow to spray the inside.

This Mod is complete.
I guess we get to call this one Mod #102.. Dan
well it's done except the rubber mat inside.
You have been seeing snippets of this project for a while now but I will recap from the start.

Step 1) come up with the idea
Step 2) I had a custom piece of channel made to my specs 76" x 6" l then notched out the ends and drilled the holes

I then sent it out to be powder coated

I mounted the 42", 500lbs capacity, locking, drawer slides, one to the back of the drop frame and one onto the new cross bar.

Next I got all of my measurements to have the box made up from my local AC/sheet metal shop.

Next I pre-set the box into place and drilled all of my mounting holes. I aliened the face plate into place and welded it on. Then cut out the holes for the pull handle.

Next I rechecked everything to make sure it all worked right.

Then off to powder coating.

I took it down to Line-X Today to spray the inside and after talking to them decided it was going to be to thick and to heavy to be worth it.
I will install a thin rubber mat on the bottom.

Hi Jerrod

I'm going to have to do the same as you on your post # 1306 with the cradle roller kit. My slide topper has to be replaced on both rear sliders as they are tearing (under warranty still).

Have had 5th wheel since March 2015, used maybe a total of 6-7 months. And I will end up with all 3 slider cradle rollers installed when finished.

Excellent finished project on yours.

Need to clarify your different posts # 1306 shows a different product than on # 801.

The # 802 post with the different cradles picture does not look like any of those on your finished project of # 1306.

Could you pass on the model # of the cradle you ended up using please? It looks like they are just what I need as well and order them for myself and have those extension blocks made.

One other question, as the kitchen slider is the largest, would their be any benefit to having 2 cradle rollers on that one?

Hi Shawn
I have the Care free toppers and I'm using the Dometic cradles. I think I used the same cradle on both sides. I just removed that 3rd roller off of them as it was useless anyway.
If you have the factory Dometic toppers you may not need to make the step out blocks like I did.
This is the cradle I ordered through my dealer

I forgot your other question, No I don't see any benefit to using two cradles. Besides it would probably hold water between them.

Jerrod, on the tinted door glass you gave me the specs but didn't say what type of glass tempered, standard, insulated ?? called glass co and they what to know type of glass. thought it was tempered if so they said 100 dollars you said 40 trying to figure out why so much difference also tint color number thanks for the help

Yes it is tempered glass.
I was told to get "gray lite 31"
The glass shop said I want "gray lite 2"

After a deluge of water from the slide this last weekend the wife has tasked me with acquiring slide toppers for the slide we have.

So the slide topper cradles I am wondering about, these just support the mid point of the topper so they don't bend going down the road, or from rain etc.?

Not understanding the why, and maybe I'm slow on the pickup ha-ha.

Yes the cradle is for center support and also helps to keep the water from puddling in the middle. Both of my big toppers were sagging badly and really bouncing going down the road. between that and the rain puddling up on them they really got stretched out in all the wrong places.

As we have identical Ashlands, I believe I'll have to do the same on attaching the cradles as you did.

And a further thank you as well in regards to your multiple attempts in finding the microwave/convection oven that worked for you. Just purchased a Frigidaire Professional model to replace our High Pointe that Heartland supplied as well.

Carter Kraft, just to let you know with the overall length of the slide topper the weight of the water collecting on top will not shed the water off the slide topper. It gets to be one huge puddle. The cradle rollers will support the weight of the overall length upwards of the of the slide topper roller and give tension outwards to keep everyone tight. If you timing is not very good there are times when that puddle is like a waterfall if your on the steps, or when retracting your slides, you do not want to be standing close.

The Dometic Cradle should work better with your Dometic toppers. I'd say they reduced the puddling by 95% but I think that last 5% is there because of how messed up my toppers became before I installed the cradles.
