You are correct, these rims are such a limiting factor. I'm glad I'm into the 17.5 inch rims and no longer have to deal with this.

Jim the highest rating I see for a 16" Transforce HT is 3415#, but that is a 265mm tire. The more common width for many of us would probably be @225mm. That rating is 2680#. Moving to 235mm gets you 3042#. I would be comfortable with the load rating of the 265mm but I don't know about figment on my rims.
