Replacing Vinyl Window Glazing

Replaced the glazing on one section of the rear window yesterday. Figured it would be an easy job. Not so fast, Kemosabe! Pulling the old glazing out is easy, getting the new one in took a lot of muscle and insults to the vinyl's parentage. Next one to do, I'll try their suggestion to soak it in hot water to soften it first.

After the fact. I had to do part of the window on the entertainment slide and the bottom of the lower sections of the rear window. May do the tops of those two sections with what I have left. The rest if our windows are still in good shape. These were shrinking at the ends /pulling out of the corner radius. Letting it sit in a bucket of hot water made it a little easier to install. The tools are all you need. The butt of the scraper was great for working it into the grooves.

Would a heat gun work?

Problem is trying to soften a long piece with a heat gun. Soaking it for a few minutes in a bucket of hot water gets the whole length. A heat gun might help at the end of it as it cools, but you’d have to be careful not to overheat it. A little muscle persuasion does it.
