Suburban Recall

Have Suburban range in our 2023 Bighorn 3215RL 5th wheel. Had a TSB for wiring not insulated behind knobs. Had this fixed and now there is a recall to have the wiring to the knob lights and the oven control light cut and capped to prevent and shorts. I had the TSB corrected within two weeks of buying the rig. Not crazy about the new fix to take away the knob lights and the oven light. This is one reason we liked this rig because of the lights that can be on when using burners and a safety feature if something got left on. How many are having this same issue on this stove situation?

It is effecting me. I have a 2023 Torque. Go to NTSB website and look up recall. Over 10000 units effected. I use those lights as a nightlight. Seems shady to just get rid of a feature as a fix. Maybe actually fix the problem? Just a thought?

I agree and I have contacted suburban and they say that is the fix for now. I had the TSB done and may not do this stupid repair.

Kind of like buying a new car with bad tires and the fix is to just remove the tires. We got the same recall, screw it, I'll take my chances.

The stove still is the worst one we have ever had in a rig. The pilot goes out when set at 300 to warm anything then relight pilot and burner at 400 degrees it stays on. Don’t get me started on the Insignia Residential refrigerator from Best Buy Heartland put in the new rigs.

We have the Big Horn 3215RL as well and received the same recall notice on the Suburban gas range. Totally agree that this is a bogus way of resolving the known light issue. If this cannot be corrected as a service matter then the range should be replaced under warranty.
The annoying problem is the oven temperature is never reached fully. Sett at 400 and reaches 325-350 and then stops heating, will not go to the set temperature.
Of course had it checked and the service tech stated that it reached temperature in 10-15 minutes. What a crock.
Anyone else experience this problem and find a resolution fix?

Forget the numbers on the knob. We put an oven thermometer in the oven and go by that. The knob numbers are off by about 30 degs. We love or T295, but the oven is a piece of crap. We called Suburban and got the run around. Just disconnecting the lights was their only solution.

We need to go to the NHTSA National Highway Traffic Safety Board too with as many complaints about this Suburban Range as possible and demand a recall and replacemen.

Going file a complaint with the NHTSA on this range. New problem with our 3215RL. First time out boondocking and the inverter GFCI trips which kills power to the inverter plugs. One of which goes to the plug for the residential refrigerator. Have you had this issu.

The tech just came out today and did the recall. I about lost my mind. My metal grate in the oven fall all the time, front burner has a ridiculously unpredictable flame. Burns the bottom of the pans. Oven temp is not close to accurate. Now no lights. The knobs I can live without if I have to BUT not the oven light. I have to be able to see in it to clean the food that goes everywhere when the grate decides to fall. The drawer underneath has never been straight so one corner sticks out. Suburban calls this “Elite series”. It’s poorly made and now everyone who has one has to sacrifice on their poor designs that were cheaply made. Don’t even get me started on the Insignia fridge. From day one freezer iced up. No seal available. Discontinued. Heartland charges a lot of money for the junkie appliances they are putting in.

So frustrated.

The RV industry in general, totally sucks, it's just that some suck more than others, and they don't give a ****.

Heartland Big Horn 3215RL -
I am unhappy with the Suburban range/oven also. Center burner flame is crazy, very high on one side and orange flame tips, not blue, and very low on the other side. This is not right. Had tech check it at Camping World, and he said it is normal for that range. What a joke. I got the recall notice to disconnect the knob lights also. This is not a fix just a band aid approach. I am surprised that Suburban would permit such a fix, instead of correcting the problem. The oven has never maintained the set temperature, swings as much as 30-40 degrees above or below setting. Had tech check this also and he confirmed that it reaches set point and holds it, another CW lie. I want to replace this range/oven with a better brand. Are there any recommendations out there?

We must have the stove. We had the first TSB done. But, not the lights disconnected. Our stove is messed up too in that when we turn on the oven to preheat to 300 degrees and it gets to that temperature the pilot goes out and the burner goes oven. So, is constantly relighting it. When we get it lit and turn it up to 350 or 400 degrees it will stay on longer.
We must also have the lousy Insignia Residential Refrigerator. Ours would freeze up along the right side of the freezer drawer. So, after discussing it with Heartland we found that the warranty for it goes through Best Buy who owns Insignia. They sent a service guy out and he determined that the vent panel behind the freezer drawer was warped out at the right bottom corner. The fix was to cut a piece of the panel out at that corner so the freezer drawer would close tight. He was going to order parts the panel and a new seal. Yup, no parts available for this piece of ****. They wanted to pay me $1100 dollars to get a new one. Didn’t even cover the cost of a new one. But, every time we were plugged into shore power the refrigerator worked fine. But, within seconds of unplugging with the refrigerator on the GFCI on the inverter trips. So, Heartland determined that it must be the refrigerator that makes it trip. Have to give the customer service guy at Heartland credit he has been working to get things fixed. But, I looked up this refrigerator up on Best Buy website $669.00. I just replaced it with a Samsung and the Inverter GFCI still trips when we are not plugged in to power. So, now back to the drawing board. Our rig is a 2023 Heartland Bighorn 3215RL. Third trip out the hydraulic pump failed so couldn’t raise or lower jacks and no slide activation. We were in a campground in Tucson and thank the Lord there was a mobile RV service guy there and got it back up after a week of working on it. Quality of workmanship is definitely lacking. Thanks for letting me vent on your post.
