Tow Max about to get next victim

Got to campsite today. Tried to put x-chocks on the off door side and they wouldn't fit. Scratching my head I thought wth?? After closer inspection I realized the treads seem to be separating. Now I need to find a local tire shop (we are 4 hrs from home) to get these time bombs off.


Guess I'm lucky they both didn't blow on the trip here.

There is W&W Tire Company in Boerne (830) 249-8749. I believe that they have Maxxis tires (10 ply) in stock. Here in Kerrville there is A&A Tire Service (830) 367-4640. They had 10 ply Maxxis tires in stock when I called them a couple of months ago. I ended up buying from Discount Tire - they had to order the Maxxis tires which meant a 3 day wait. Both W&W Tire and A&A Tire have good reputations for service.

Discount Tire is hard to beat. I purchased a tire in Bee Cave, TX and then had another one go bad in Santa Fe and decided to replace the other 3 tires to match my new one. The Discount Tire in Santa Fe didn't have 3 of my new one, so they took it in trade and gave me almost what I paid for it and sold me 4 new Michelins. You can get service almost nation wide.

Discount Tire will also upgrade your valve stems to full metal for like $2.50 a piece, that's cheap! And you can get road hazard coverage, which will replace a tire damaged such that it can't be repaired.

There are about 30 Discount Tire locations within 50 miles of Blanco, TX, (check their store locator) the closest is New Braunfels. I know that the Bee Cave location is easy in and easy out with a 5th wheel. Been there, done that. I would call before you go to see if the location you choose has the tires you need in stock. Of course, you are traveling on TowMax so you don't want to go too far.

Got a $200 speeding ticket there back in 2007!

Marble Falls is a cool town . . .

We stayed there for a week out on Lake LBJ back in 2007!

I think their ad was the one where the old lady threw the tire through the plate glass window of the store when returning it. Their price is usually as good or better than the other guy, and since their service is so good, there is hardly any reason to have to shop around. I don't own stock in Discount, but maybe I should.

I always wondered what would happen to an unhappy customer with a legitimate complaint if they were to toss a tire through the front window!

I'll bet that is why they don't show that commercial anymore . . . because someone did just that!

Nope, it still plays every so often here on local stations. I think it is funny because that ad first started playing about 1974. But then, Discount is now based in Phoenix and the owner lives in Paradise Valley, AZ. The CEO of Discount dot com is someone I see and talk with about every morning at our local gym. I have done more than a just a little business with Discount over the years and have had one problem with a set of tires that they replaced about a year after I bought them, with no questions asked for no charge. They can get just about any tire or wheel that you want, including one of the wheels for my Cyclone to match the four on it so that I could rotate the spare through the rotation process. That is why I wanted to buy stock. We will always will need tires or wheels but no luck. A private company.
