UPDATE:
We went in with our last offer and they came back $2000 higher which was really stretching it for us and the % we were figuring. The salesman came back with again, "their financing". Told them we had to sleep on it.
Two days later, we get call from GM (not the Salesman or Sales Manager) of said RV dealer who said "we can allow you to bring your own financing but the new price is.....$6000 more than their last offer (which again, was already $2000 more than our final offer).
Soooooo, they make money off our trade (at least about $10k), make money off the new purchase (they were only coming down 20% off MSRP) and ALSO make another $6000 on financing.
We told him no deal. We are finished negotiating. The GM started this sob story about how he's a (his words exactly) "for profit company" and he has to pay for advertising of our trade, someone to clean and prep it (even though we are mechanically and physically meticulous in caring for our coach) and blah, blah, blah. He also said that 'toyhaulers' don't sell and take longer because of their lack of interest (really, because everywhere we go now, there's always toyhaulers; not only for toys but families and business offices).
Did a little digging and found a BBB review of the same dealership from someone who had the same exact experience.
So, we are taking a break. We know exactly what we want, and how much we want to pay (figured out the %'s off MSRP). We have financing waiting for us. We know what we have to do to be fair to the dealer and ourselves. We don't expect an outlandish killer deal but the dealer shouldn't be making $50k on us either.
Selling ours outright isn't going to work for us as we are on an extended RV vacation in it right now. For it to work, timing would have to be of the essence.
Thank you to the private messages from those who offered helpful suggestions. Our Landmark Charleston is out there waiting. When God wants us to have it, he'll present that opportunity in time. Until then, we will continue to love our Cyclone....after all, it's still a Heartland.
