What did you do to your camper today?

2 weekends ago, we checked the underbelly for any issues with our black tank, that appeared to look "lower" than in the past (as seen behind the basement wall.) After dropping the underbelly on one side, we did not find anything unusual. The tank looks secure in its location. We did clean the construction debris and such from under the tank and looked for any other signs of leaks, which we did not see.

Not trailer related but definitely important, replaced the OE shocks on the truck (82K miles, they were due!) -- with Bilstein 5100s, from 4-Wheel Parts. We had them install them as well, since we're not "auto-savvy" nor do we have a space to do so. They were half the cost of our local auto repair place here in Cisco. I just had to drive to Ft. Worth to have it done, about 2 hours one way.

I cleaned and emptied my old camper in preparation of trading it in on a new fifth wheel. What did you do?
I buffed the front cap with 3m finness its part # is 05928. I used a wool bonnet and set the variable speed buffer on 3 and 4.
I do this once a year to remove any oxidation on the clear coat. I always start with the front cap and work my way around the Landmark.

Installed the recalled Kidde extinguisher with the new one they sent. If you get it, you’ll need to use the mounting bracket it comes with due to a different design. The screw holes align with the old ones, though.

John, how did you know when you would be getting yours? I thought I submitted mine the day everyone was talking about it and haven't heard a peep.

I actually didn’t know when. It just showed up on my porch (while I was on a 16 hr. FD shift). It was a 5-BC unit, which is what the one in the rig was. I am expecting a 10-ABC to replace one I have in my house.

First major snow storm on its way. Went and blocked up the landing gear so the rams are not in the weather. Pulled the hitch from the truck for the Winter. Sadly that is it for this year.

How did you “block up”? Is it necessary?

Replaced the D-seals on the slides today. All 4 on the bedroom slide and the verticals on the kitchen and living room slides. Can't get to the top ones on the kitchen and living room slides because of slide toppers. But by the same token, the slide toppers protect the D-seal from the elements. If I have the slide toppers off for any reason in the future, that'll be the time to replace the top D-seals.

After doing the first one the hard way :(, I figured out that I could slide the new seal onto the track.

I replaced mine in the past Dan and other than removing a screw which is sometimes driven through the seal at one end to anchor it, they slide in/out from the end. I wouldn't think the topper would affect replacement.

On the bedroom slide, where the seal is only about 6 feet long, it was difficult to slide it through. It tends to bunch in the middle. On a 14 foot slide, I think it would be near impossible without being able to pull it along (with the topper out of the way). Maybe lubrication would make it possible, but once you take the old one out, you're all in and if it won't push through, you have to remove the topper. I didn't want to make that bet.

Understood. Probably the smart thing to do.

I wonder if you tied a line to the old seal as you pulled it out, you could pull a new on in with it. I would try corn starch as a dry lubricant .

Replaced the frosted glass in the door with a clear dark colored one. Never could understand why they put a window in the door you can’t see through.

I changed the seals on my two long slides about a month ago.
One of the top seals slid out very easily and the new one slide in just as easily.
The other did not want to pull out easily so I knew the new one would not go in easily.
I changed the seal when I replaced the slide topper.
Removing the topper might be your only option.

Peace
Dave

Our cyclone 4005 came setup for king bed. This left too little space to exit bed on curb side. We planned on using our current queen mattress from house so I trimmed 4 inches off the flake board along its length and made a radius corner at the foot end. It was a 10 minute job that will make the 3 am nature’s call less a struggle.

Ooooh I like! Can you give the details?

Yes for me it was simple lol I took it to my dealer Johnnie walker rv in Las Vegas they measured and ordered the awning for me and when it came in they called me I dropped it off on Thursday and picked it up on Friday. Very fast service and affordable and no nonsense like I like it . Very happy with it . On my last Big Horn camping world wanted 3300 $ to do the same thing on it and said it would take three weeks because it was a custom job so I declined they are something else. Very happy with Johnnie walker rv.
