Latest update:

On the way back from Durham, NC visiting family. We stopped and looked at a couple potential replacement trailers (Bighorn 3270RS and 3160EL) that really didn't fit us. Still deciding on a floor plan and might look at something tomorrow (back in the Big Country line).

Logged onto State Farm and found that it looks like they might just try to repair our truck. Estimate was for $32,000 (NADA lists the truck's value around $44k). That should be exciting as I continue making payments on a truck that will be worth considerably less than $44k after they replace the entire front end, frame and pickup bed. I'm sure it will be worth considerably less than $44k when they are done.

Starting to get discouraged at the whole process and situation.

I think you should follow a suggestion made earlier in this post about how they will cover the truck if it is in another accident after they fix it. Will it hold the camper will they guarantee your safety and so on

or you can get the truck back sell it immediately and then files charges for the diminished value.

Sadly unless you have replacement value, they will only reimburse for the actual current value of the vehicle. However I've always found the general rule of thumb is if the cost to repair is over 50% of the current market value they will usually just total the it. Over the years we had several class 8 trucks repaired after accidents and never had an issue with repairs so long as they were made by a reputable shop.

I may have been jumping the gun. I guess just because an estimate was posted doesn't necessarily mean that they might actually try to fix it.

Yes, if they do fix it, I'll sell it for what I can get and try to get some difference as a diminished value claim.

Don't forget that the salvage value on a newer model truck can be quite high.
If you offset the ACV by the salvage value plus any diminished value and get below the repair cost...
It should be totaled???

On a more cheery note, just located another potential replacement RV that is a floorplan we like, a price that I can probably talk down a bit more and in a location that is very favorable (though not my favorite dealer in the "world"). Might look at another one at another dealer tomorrow, as well.

Have they come back about your trailer?

They haven't looked at it yet. Primarily so we had a chance to continue our trip for a family function without it. We will be back in it tonight and will call the adjuster to come out and look at it in the morning.

Truck is officially totaled. State Farm gave us a good value on it (a little better than I expected, but it does cover the hitch). They are paying off the loan and sending us the difference minus deductible (still working on other party's end of the claim).

Now on to the trailer. Just looked at one of the two we have narrowed down to, getting ready to go look at the other then back home to the current trailer to have it looked at tomorrow.

Fantastic on the truck. Let us know when the adjuster is coming out to look at the Big Country.

Andy, sounds like a couple of open "houses" are in order for the Loiusiana rally.

About 98% sure at this point - our next trailer will be a 2015 Big Country 3650RL. Residential fridge, slide toppers, MorRyde hitch, ceiling beams, Dyson vac, theater seating.

Can't discuss actual pricing, but lets say it is a great price.
