Anderson Ultimate Fifth Wheel Hitch

1500 mile Update.

Took the Anderson out today. Just a few seconds over a minute to remove. Wanted to check to see if there was any damage or issues with the bed.

As mentioned on other YouTube videos, the Anderson can leave marks in the bedliner. No physical damage to the bed floor, just sort of flattens out the dimples in the bedliner.

That was what I found with mine.

Close up shows that the spray in bedliner dimples are flattened. No rubbing or paint exposure at all.

I don't think I'm really concerned about this. I can do more damage to the bedliner by sliding a rake or shovel across it.

This is good news. Now only if I can get the wife talked into letting me buy one.

I'll give you an update on the adapter after we get down to camp this weekend. I'm suspecting no issues whatsoever. As the MorRyde and FlexAir have substantially heavier steel plating.

JWalker, I use a Ford F-350 dually and a Bighorn 3750FL. I bought my Andersen hitch 2016 (Alluminum) and did about 10K miles. I never had an unsafe experience. With 75mph and cruise control you don't even feel you're towing a 16.5k pound 5th wheel.
It was one of my best investments. Go for it.

I too use the hitch and love it, However, and you may be aware of this but just in case, Check your tires and be sure they are not TowMax. And in any event, check the speed rating for your tires. 75 may be asking for issues and if they are TowMax you are asking for issues.

I can't fit the torque wrench in between the hitch and the coupler.

I installed my Anderson Ultimate today and was confronted with the same problem. I resolved it by raising the Anderson hitch ball up one notch, lowered the trailer on the ball and then re-tightened the hitch. Then raised the trailer back up, reset the ball to the correct position and lowered the trailer back down. Worked great and you don't have to worry about making any calculations.

Anyone have any experience or opinions on this hitch.

This hitch attaches to a gooseneck ball which gives those with the factory fifth wheel prep a different option.

Do you have the model number of this hitch and is it an Andersen hitch? This doesn't look any different than the aluminum model and I can't find it on the Andersen site.

Would be very interesting to know more details of what happened than just a picture of a damaged hitch. I have been towing with an Andersen since December of 2014 (an early model) and have felt very comfortable with it. Any thing can be destroyed in an accident. Maybe, instead of flipping the RV which has happened with other hitches, the trailer stayed upright and while yes the hitch was destroyed, the accident might not have been as bad as it could have been. Need to see more pictures and have more information before I throw my Andersen away. Do you have any more details than just this picture?

I am sure something catastrophic happened, I doubt it bent like that under normal towing conditions, hope no one was hurt. Too bad the accident can't be duplicated with the RV being towed with a more standard, and acceptable to some, hitch, in order to be able to see what the results would be, then we would know which hitch provided the best protection.

Did you tow your Sundance yet?

So far, I only towed it form storage to my driveway(about 20 miles). DW already commented on how smooth it was (no chucking)
If all goes well, I will be taking it out next weekend for a longer trip (about 100 miles each way). I'll check in after that trip.
