    Space Between Dually Tires

On some makes, and especially if they have after market wheels, the wheels are not hub piloted or hub supported, the studs carry 100% of the load.
  2. H

    Space Between Dually Tires

That is true for hub centered wheels, wheels that fit the hub tightly ( and sometimes very difficult to remove ) and only use the studs for clamping and to keep from spinning. Wheels that do not fit the hub tightly, the load is carried by the studs as well as clamping.

    Space Between Dually Tires

Spacers change where the load is carried by the hub and bearings, can cause bearing failure or stud failure.

    Space Between Dually Tires

I installed 245/75R17 on my dually Rams. The 265 is too wide. 1/2 an inch is not enough space under full load. If the side walls touch while loaded, you will overheat the side walls and possibly causing a blowout.

    Perform service light

At that mileage, the computer will automatically through the service message. The CCV filter needs changed, the EGR and the EGR Cooler needs to be cleaned. When the turbo was replaced, this service, most likely, was not performed. All the EGR stuff is before the turbo, even if you had a...

ATF: ElkRidge - Brake Turn Signal Brakelights

It would help if we knew what is your tow vehicle. On certain Dodge trucks, you have to have the TPM reset by the dealer, there is internal breakers in the computer that requires a Star Scan tool to reset, or worse case scenario, replace the computer. Other manufactures may have the same setup.

US Gov't Shutdown Impacts RVers at Federal Parks

    Leveling jacks

Those jacks are NOT designed to lift the trailer or take any load. The are to stabilize, you should only put enough load on them to keep the trailer from bouncing around. The tire must stay in firm contact with the ground and be prevented from rolling. They have no strength and are not...

    Big Horn generator

I chain it to the receiver safety chain loop on the truck. You could give it a little more room just to get in to service it. I made a frame for my cover out of light angle iron and covered it with 14ga sheet metal. I also made it into 2 pieces for ease of removal and installation. I made it...

    Big Horn generator

You need to have the generator in a steel box separating it from the rest of the coach for 2 reasons, 1 carbon monoxide, 2 fire. That is why you should not have the fuel tank in the same compartment. When I installed mine, I carry a 6 gallon steel portable outboard motor boat tank. We use it...

Has anyone installed the new style AirLift bags?

Porpoising is a teeter totter effect using the rear axle as the pivot point, common when towing a fifth wheel with a short bed truck, since the hitch usually is placed directly over or just behind the rear axle. Adding air bags will not help the situation. Moving the fifth wheel hitch forward...

    Inverter power

Try hooking your CPAP up directly to 12 volt. Mine has a transformer on it the that converts 110AC to 12DC. You will use less power than going through the invertor and transformer.

Problem Emptying Black Tank on North Trail 24RBS

Get one of those valves with a clear section. Like this http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/flush-king/20522 This allows you to close the valve and fill from the hose end. Back flushing and using the in tank flusher several times is the only way to try and get everything out. Sometimes...

Remove your pressure regulator. If you have one of those cheap non-adjustable ones, they will reduce the pressure, regardless of incoming pressure. If it is low to begin with, it will lower it further.

My Never Fail Bushings - Failed.

Looking closely at the pictures, the bushings are not worn to failure, they all have a very nice straight cut/slit in them. This is not a wear failure, but a mechanical failure. Most likely from the edge of the curled end of the spring leaf. Look in picture #1 & #2, the edge should have been...

adding a drinking water filter only

I added a Reverse Osmosis System to our Landmark and ran a line to the icemaker in addition to the faucet on the sink. The Corian tops are very easy to work with using any sharp wood working tools. A spade bit or a hole saw works very well.

    water pressure tankless water heater

Take and disconnect the faucet, run the line into a bucket and turn the water on. Do you get enough flow for the water heater to work properly?? If so, the faucet is the issue, if not, start tracing the lines back to the water heater, you may have one kinked or partially blocked at a fitting.

    LT tires or ST tires???

I went to LT tires in 09 after having a blow out with the ST tires. The tires I was able to get on such short notice were Hankook LT's. They are 300 pounds under my axle capacity, but have been trouble free for over 12,000 miles. I have switched all of my trailers, 5 total, over to LT tires...

Axel replacement -- anyone to blame?

One other thing, you mentioned some very rough roads you have traveled. A good pot hole, obstacle in the road, curb, etc... will cause damage to the bearings, spindle, axle, tire, wheel, etc.. when struck at speed. Not to mention if overloaded, ( not implying anything ), any impact will be...

Bad odor from under kitchen sink

It is a "Studor Valve", you can buy a new one for about $3.00 at Lowes and Home Depot. I carry an extra one, and if they give me any sign of trouble, I replace it! Look at the plumbing under the sink, find the trap. The trap is connected to the sink and a "Tee" fitting. Follow the pipe above...

    Cleaning hydraulic landing gear tubes

Raise the front of the rig as far as it will go, use a broom and brush off all debris. If it is just grass clippings, they will brush off very easily. If it is mud, I would use a stiff brush and just hose it off, then let it dry. Remember, these are designed to be exposed to the elements. I...

    Microwave Tripping when running generator.

Most likely your convertor was drawing pretty hard. If you had been sitting without the generator going, all the lights, fridge, radio, water pump, water heater, etc.. will draw down the batteries. When you fire up the generator, the convertor will pick up all the 12 volt load and start...
