We have traveled in cold weather for years and never had a problem. We couldn't keep the heat on even if we wanted to. 3 of the 5 heat vents are blocked with the slides pulled in and we keep the bedroom door closed(where one heat vent is) so the cats don't get under the bed when it is in. If you...
Be very conscious of the weather forecast and, as you travel north, campgrounds that are open. Most campgrounds close down for the winter. Always call ahead to make sure they are open. We have found that even if one is closed it is worth a call. Many have turned off the water and shut everything...
We find that most sites, at least for overnight, are level "enough". The site we are in for 3 months is level also. We rarely find off-level sites in commercial cgs. In 3 months on the road we pulled out our boards maybe 3 times.
We had our dealer install cutoff valves for the kitchen sink and bathroom lavatory. Also installed a digital thermostat(we did). Went after market for a Morryde IS suspension and are considering disk brakes. Had 2 coax run so we could use non-SWM Direct TV and just take along our home unit. See...
I would consider a catalytic heater purchase. They are much more efficient than the hot air furnace and consume 40% less propane plus you don't consume battery power. Would not run overnight but great for during the day.
The flow restrictor has been removed and the screen cleaned. We are thinking there might be a kink in the line or something along those lines. Plan to dedicate the day to this problem and reorganizing the basement.
We have very low water pressure in the kitchen and when the toilet is flushed I have none. We are planning to take apart the basement today and check into the plumbing problem. We have very high street pressure and have the pressure regulator set at 50. DW has been complaining about the water...
We think we have a blown check valve. How many are in our BH 3670? The ones we know about are the HW and shower. Are there others????
1 hour later: Just found 2 more, water pump and city water input.
Still looking for more.....................
We have a bubble level on the rear of the coach so when DW walks around she can check side-to-side level, then another on up near the front so we can see back to front level.
We downloaded low bridge poi to our Garmin and have it signal us within 2 miles of a low clearance. Gets confused once in a while when we are on the overpass of a low bridge but that is better than no warning at all.
We bought ours from Chesapeake Rv Solutions in Chesapeake, VA. Great owner and service. Can't s ay anything negative about them. Great pricing also. We had done an email query of 4 different Heartland suppliers and they were the only ones that followed thru. If you want more info let me know and...
We have tried them and find that they work. The problem is remembering to get the hot water to check them. We find it easier to keep an eye on when the tanks switch over and then fill the empty one.
That is disappointing. We love our keyless entry. Have had the trailer 3 years without a problem, not even a new battery. We use the keyless entry all the time. We always carry keys with us and have a spare set in the truck also. We also keep spare truck keys in the trailer.
There is another...
We use one tank until it is empty and switches to the other, then we get the empty one filled. We also don't run our furnace at night for several reasons: noise of furnace, propane consumption(furnaces are propane wasters). We do have an electric blanket though.
We are using a portable dish and set it up every night when on the road. Takes about 15 minutes, from pulling it out to getting a picture. Bought our tripod from tv4rv.com, high quality and heavy duty. We use a portable with 100' of coax to give us flexibility with trees and other obstructions...
We replaced ours last year, just went to Lowes and bought one. Microwaves are pretty much standardized in size so don't waste you money on a Dometic. We had to change our mounting brackets, vent was in the same place.
In the past everything was sent as a PDF. In my mind companies should use a generic format that all can read. I don't want another piece a software on my machine for a few uses. It's like pictures, there are about 40 formats but the "standard" that is used is JPG. This is the first time in all...
I recently ordered some decals for our BH. Customer Service was great!! Can't say enough. The only problem is that whatever software you are using for the confirmations etc. sends a winmail.dat file. This file is a non-standard format and is only readable but Outlook(best I can tell from...
We pull with a International MDT 4700, have for 12 years, love it. Never a question about stopping or pulling, no worries about weight capacity either.
Re: Low Water Pressure at Kitchen Faucet
We have the same problem. We did a "scientific test"(gallon jug timed for 15 secs and marked) and know the problem is past the filters. We are thinking it is the back flow valve but need to empty the basement. If we empty the basement we want to...
Electric blankets and mattress pads are very seasonal items. We bought both at Walmart but had to keep checking as we drove across the country. Once you see them, don't hesitate to buy them. Best i can figure Walmart gets in one shipment and that is it.
Thanks for the instructions on the decals. I asked Heartland for instructions and they don't have any....................Would heating the decal after application with the hair dryer help it stick better?
That's good to know and I will do that. I am more upset with the decals coming off, if it was only my rig and one decal, OK, application problem but when I saw another rig with a majority of the decals coming off I am thinking it is another issue.
Our rig is 3 years old and the decals are coming loose. Can anything be done about this. I have never seen this before in an Rv. Our last rv was 10 years old and fine, our truck is 12 years old and fine. I saw this on another Heartland a few weeks ago, that one was 6 years old.
One problem you may run into is delivery from the factory. With the need to get trailers into the NYC area most of the drivers are going to be busy hauling those trailers and yours may be delayed. This happened to us.
Both Dish and Direct require for 3 satellites for HD. The Direct sats are closer together so easier to lock on to all 3 if shooting thrugh trees. If you want DNS service from Dish you now need(as of 11/15) to go to a third party provider, Direct still provides DNS service.
You were very lucky that everything worked out the way it did. I still think this was a used unit of some sort, new units generally don't come with so many problems or are fixed by the time the unit is available for purchase.
If a dealer asked me for money for a job he should be doing(PDI) which he has already been paid for(by Heartland I think) I would walk, report him to Heartland and the BBB. When you buy a new car does the dealer charge you for noting things that aren't right, no he goes ahead and fixes them...
Over the years we have had trailers with ducted air and without. We believe(no studies done) that trailer without ducted air are much cooler. That being said our BH has ducted air. To increase air flow we put in the tent, blocked the end of the ducts with fiberglass, in the bedroom pulled out...
