Is it expensive to prep a 5vr for a generator?

My thoughts are conflicted on the generator. I ordered one with my coach, mostly for the ability to run the Air Conditioner when boon-docking. The reality is, the generator added about 8% to the purchase price of the coach. I'm ok with that, but there are many less expensive alternatives. I...

    Ordered a 4200 today

Congratulations on your order and welcome to the group. I can't wait to see pics when you get it. What's your favorite feature of that floor plan?

That's a huge plus. It looks like it was $70 at the one online vendor I found. Not bad at all considering most of the sub panel boxes I saw were almost that much.

Wondering if I'll regret a shortbed -- need advice on a sliding hitch

The 8' box is not an option from the factory. I just bought a 14 crew cab after weighing the decision. The Mega did not offer enough to sacrifice the long bed. The extra room in the Mega is all behind the seat. The seats recline. There is some storage. That's about it. Legroom and headroom for...

    bluray replacement for cyclone

I used a Samsung Home Theater in a Box in my SOB trailer. I'm hoping I can make it work in the Cyclone, but I don't think there will be enough room where the current DVD player sits without cutting the cabinet. I was able to wire all the trailer speakers into the Samsung, and it worked like...

    Inverter Selection

That is a cool find! I didn't see it, but I wonder if the current breakers will work in that panel, or if they use a different style. That would be really slick to have it all in one place, and keep the "rv look" to the panel. Not that looks matter behind the basement wall...

    off assembly line?

I think the India weather has thrown a big wrench in the works. I'm not sure where my trailer is but talking to Heartland they have had some pretty big delays because of the snow. I still really hate waiting. Today is exactly two months since placing my order so I can't complain. I expected...

    off assembly line?

I was really planning to wait until the snow cleared for that reason. However the bug hit me hard and I gave into temptation. I plan to thoroughly clean the areas affected by salt. Hopefully a one trip stint in the salt with a good scrubbing won't destroy the underside. If it does I'll have it...

Reese 30154 Picture Frame for new '14 Ram

That's crazy. It only took them two years to figure out Ford had a much better system. I love my Ram but it would be better if it had puck spacing like the Ford. Hopefully this is a temporary back order. Etrailer had my picture frame back ordered for a month or so. Plug 30154 into the Google...

RAM 3500 2013 & Newer - Projection Headlights & Fog Light Conversion to HID

Looks to me like the projector lense of the stock bi-xenon does a pretty good job of keeping the light out of the eyes of oncoming drivers. Look at the photo from the driver seat and notice the light on the trunk of the car parked in front. Not trying to be obtuse but why should one not drive...

    off assembly line?

I called Heartland customer service a few weeks after placing my order. They put me in touch with the regional sales rep for my area. He was able to tell me the build date and later gave me the Vin. My dealer did not have or would not give much if any info. I try not to bug them but I do feel...

ATF: Cyclone - No Auto leveling - big mistake?

I personally had the level up as my deal breaker when looking for a trailer. I would not buy without it. I'm guessing if the dealer talked you out of it, it was because the trailer they stocked didn't have it. The dealer, who's sole motivation is profit, is the last person to believe when it...

RAM 3500 2013 & Newer - Projection Headlights & Fog Light Conversion to HID

Nice write up, Al. I think you are going to enjoy being able to see at night now. I know we've talked about the lights. The plug and play aspect makes for a clean install. Thanks for posting the pictures up.

PDI, Demo and first night out!

Congratulations on your new rig. To test the ac in the winter I would crank the heat in the trailer to the 80s. Then after a few minutes set the ac to the 60s and let it do its thing. You'll at least know if the compressor kicks in and the fan works. You may have to wait for summer to see how...

    Ordered a Cyclone 4000 Today

Your process sounds very similar to mine. We originally ruled the 4000 out because of the bunk access being in the kitchen. At the time I was shopping the 4000 was the only floor plan of it's kind. Within a few months Voltage, Fuzion and Raptor all had copies. Each one brought something to...

    Ordered a Cyclone 4000 Today

PDI is Pre Deliver Inspection. I would start with dealer websites and look at specifications. For us, tank capacity was huge. Many of the other brands, Voltage, Fuzion, Raptor, AMP all had smaller black tanks. From experience with out older trailer, we knew we needed more than the 40...

    Inverter Selection

The only reason I chose the smaller inverter is because of efficiency. This will usually only be powering a TV and blu ray player or two. Occasional coffee in the morning and a few zaps of the microwave. I thought about the 2812 but realized I'll likely not even put the 2012 through its paces...

    4100 vs. 4200??

I was talking to one of the factory reps today. He said they made the change two weeks ago. My trailer was built two weeks and a day ago. I am waiting to see if it comes with the new window and sliding TV mount. I'm really hoping it arrives at the dealership tomorrow or Wednesday. The wait...

2/0 instead of 4/0? I didn't know what it was called, but the class T was what I was thinking of. I've read over your install page. It was very helpful. When you reused the breakers, what did you use to cover or fill the holes in the main left by the missing breakers? Your inverter install...

what options to order on a 3110 toyhauler

The garage couch is a forced option now. Prior to the 14s the garage dinette was an option in place of two queen beds. Some say get the Goodyear tires as an upgrade. I had seen a list of hidden options for the 13s, but can't find it now. Chiefneon had a normal swinging door added in place of...

    Inverter Selection

Ok, so here is where the plan sits now. After a ton of research I'm going to jump head first and do solar and the inverter all at once. I'm going with the Magnum 2012, and remote. I'll use the TriMetric 2030 Controller (PWM) and Monitor. I'm thinking 3 Kyocera 130-140 Watt 12V panels, for...

    4100 prospective buyer

We went through this exact same exercise today at the RV show. My buddy is looking for a toy hauler that he can fit a boat inside. Scotty, I would love to see video of them loading that trailer. I am fascinated by unusual load-outs like that. It looks like it takes longer to load than to...

3 air conditioners at once? no problem in my 3800.

Shore power will run all three, but the generator won't. Because they need to make the trailer as fool proof as possible, they put the selector switch in. It keeps people from expecting the generator to power them all, but limits those of us that understand. With some relatively simple...

Thinking of going to the dark side - iOS to Android cell phone - your experience...

Jim, After three generations of the iPhone I made the switch about a year and a half ago to Android. I wasn't unhappy with IOS, but a few friends swore by the Galaxy S3. I was tired of waiting for news on the iPhone 5 (August of '12) and got the "buy-me's" really bad for a new phone. My...

B&W Companion and Turn over ball

I sold my Companion for $400 on Craigslist, but it was all about timing. He needed it that day, and it was the only used one on the list. I had two other calls offering $250 and $300. I sold the rest of the hitch still attached to the truck.

    Sink option Torque 380

My Cyclone was ordered with the roll up garage carpet. I can't imagine the RW garage is substantially different from the Cyclone. I'd find a Cyclone model with the same size garage as yours and call Customer Service to ask about ordering that carpet.

Brand new 2014 Prowler Lynx 27X and I'm already modifying!!! LED Brakelight retrofit

I'm a huge fan of the led tail light mod. I saw those glolights awhile back and really liked them. They look awesome on your trailer. Keep posting pics of your mods. As a fellow sufferer I've found that living vicariously through other's mods helps pass the time.

TV adjustment. (need a little tilt)

Take a look at this mount. It looks like it only projects 27mm from the wall. If my math is correct that's less than 1.5 inches. I've had really good results from monoprice. I'm not sure exactly how your screen mounts now but I'd guess your bracket is about as thick as the low profile one below.

3 air conditioners at once? no problem in my 3800.

So to summarize what I think I've learned... With three air conditioners there are two breakers. One for the main a/c and one for the two shared a/c-s. The shared a/c-s are switched by the dpdt switch. If one were to hijack the laundry room breaker and fish a lead from that breaker to the...
