Why do I need a battery?

What will power your electric brakes in the event your trailer separates from the truck? You may not need much battery but I think a simple no frills 12v is a necessity when on the road. If you were parked you may be able to ditch the battery. I'm just not sure why you'd want to. If nothing...

2013 Ram 3500 factory 5th wheel prep kit adapter.

The Reese 30154 kit is identical to the Ram kit (Reese makes the part for Ram). The only difference between the two is the sticker that says Ram or Reese and the Reese is $200 cheaper.

I think I missed this when Mike first posted it. That looks like all the benefits of the Hybrid, but the functionality to run dual in - dual out, if you choose. Thanks for pointing it out.

    Question for new Dodge owners

If you buy the Reese 30154 adapter (the "picture frame") you can mount most standard fifth wheel hitches to the adapter. B&W just released their adapter-less version that mounts directly to the holes. The unit number for the B&W is RVK3600. I'm not sure if you'll need a slider with the mega...

How do you sanitize the fresh water tank with an Anderson valve

Attach your EMPTY water hose to the fill side. From the side that attaches to the water spigot on your house fill the hose with the appropriate amount of bleach or sanitizer. Connect the hose to the spigot, fill the tank and enjoy.

Little Basin State Park - Santa Cruz Area California

Has anyone been to Little Basin State Park? It's a brand new CA State Park, that until recently was a private campground/resort for Hewlett Packard. The have a few spots that on paper, appear to accommodate the bigger rigs. I know its a longshot, but if anyone has feedback I'd appreciate...

Most (or maybe not so) experience when taking Delivery of a new Cyclone 4100.B at La Mesa RV

I was at the Davis dealership in January and may have looked at the actual 4100 you bought. I was not impressed with the dealership at all. They may have decent pricing but their customer service annoyed me. I hope you get all the issues worked out soon. Nothing like a series of dealership...

    Inverter Selection

I wasn't even thinking in those terms. I'm not used to the two hots coming in on the 50amp. So, I suppose it would still work to assist the generator run all three ACs but you would need to put at least one of the ACs on the sub. For our rigs with 5k generators, it seems like the only...

    TOWMAX Tire Failure

I think at this point I've ruled out the Maxxis. Now it's just a matter of deciding which LT. If I get the BFGs I can drop the $700 difference on the Hybrid inverter :). Great info on the tire sizes. Thank you. I'd be much happier with a 3400 lb rating than 3000.

    TOWMAX Tire Failure

Ok, so another, potentially dumb, question. If I decide to go with the Michelin Ribs, an LT tire, why not any of the name brand LT tires with a load range E rating? Would a BFG Commercial, GY Wrangler, Cooper Discoverer work just as well as the Rib. This all assumes the load and speed ratings...

    Inverter Selection

If I were to run the hybrid I would more than likely not use a sub panel and just power the whole coach. That way I wouldn't have to decide which AC would work. The kicker for me is knowing the 2000 is probably overkill for my needs. Do I really want to spend more money for a super overkill...

    2014 1/2 - 4100 King with 3 way a/c switch question/problem

    Do you need it?

People that know I carry would often ask, why do you carry at the grocery store? Or why the movies? My response used to be that I had to get to those places somehow and anything could happen between the relative safety of my home or the mall. Now I just ask them where the last mass shootings...

Buying new tow vehicle - advice

I wonder if HL bumped the gvwr up to include the pin weight since so many of the DRW trucks now tow in the 22k+ range. I have to imagine that there is nothing significantly different about the cyclones that they only include the axle ratings to account for the gvwr. It seems like every other...

Large Families, are you purchasing toy haulers to sleep everyone comfortably?

I think you were on to something with the toy hauler and ikea bunk beds. Even beyond ikea you could have triple bunks made that went on either side of the garage. Just take out the stock beds and turn the garage into a dedicated bedroom with custom bunks. For bonus points you could make the...

Buying new tow vehicle - advice

Congrats on the 4200. I'll just say get a Ford or Ram 350-3500 with the Diesel, best tranny option, and at least a 3.73 but preferably a 4.10 rear end. Ram has a super detailed towing guide, hidden on the website. A well equipped Ram 3500, crew cab, 4x4 with a 4.10 will tow a 28k trailer...

    Inverter Selection

Duane my thoughts are to run a sub panel with all the circuits I want to power. Carpeting on interior stairs

We tried a rug on our SOB fiver, but the stairs weren't curved. It still wanted to move around. With the curved steps you are dealing with some compound curves, making everything except a custom made rug almost impossible. I'd wait until the carpet got ratty, rip it up to a nice transition...

    TOWMAX Tire Failure

I keep wondering if the Maxxis would be the right choice for the heavy Cyclone, or if I should just pull the trigger on the Michelin Ribs. If the Maxxis is adequate at almost 400 lbs more per tire, is it worth double the price for the Ribs? Especially since most of the comments about the...

    Inverter Selection

So looking at the MSH-M, if I think I'm reading it correctly, you may be able to run all three ACs off of generator power. If you battery bank was up to the task, the combining of the loads might handle all three AC startup demands. Combined with rewiring the AC cutoff switch, this may be the...

    Do you need it?

The good news is that the Courts are starting to take up the issue of California's ban on open carry coupled with restrictive (impossible in some areas) CCW as a violation of the Second Amendment. Although the ability to carry on your person is limited (legally) in California, you can still...

Large Families, are you purchasing toy haulers to sleep everyone comfortably?

We are looking at the Toyhauler as a glorified bunk house. We traded from a true bunkhouse fiver to the Cyclone 4000. The garage is so well appointed as a bedroom, that it blew our old bunkhouse out of the water. We have a few toys to take along, but we don't plan to use the garage to haul...

    EMS: Portable or Built-In?

Is it a fair statement that the Progressive Hardwired and Portable units (EMS-HW50C and EMS-PT50C) are very close to being the same unit? When I compare the features of the two, the hardwired unit claims it is rated to 240V and offers a 15 second and 136 second Air Conditioner compressor delay...

    4100 vs. 4200??

The 4100 has a unique bathroom layout with the tub on the living room/bathroom wall. The 4200 (4000, 3950 and 4114 as well) have the tub on the Off Door Side wall. The bedroom between the 4100 and those other units is not noticeably smaller. The difference I found was the bathroom door into...

    Bedroom/living room
