2016 prowler ac fan on and off

This year since it’s become summer, the ac will run fine and cool as needed but for the first time we noticed that the fan will shut off for a few seconds while the compressor is still running. This happens every once in a while and doesn’t seem to be of any particular pattern. Also, all the...

    Shower skylight replacement

Ya I’ve been on Amazon and the like. Many many options. It seems this will be a two part replacement. One outer dome and one inner equipped with a flange around to hide the big hole cut through the roof. This is seems to be a small rabbit hole that is getting bigger. But I still think this...

    Shower skylight replacement

So our shower skylight is opaque white and just getting back from Florida, I can’t help but think how much better it would look in the bathroom with a clear one. This would also greatly enhance the appearance from the outside as well. I am am looking for the best place to get a new one. This...

    New easy lighting upgrade

Just did my bedroom as well. Again, very easy and a great upgrade..given your fixtures accept a dimming input. And mine being as cheap as they are, I’m sure most do accept this.

    New easy lighting upgrade

Hey Bill, it’s a nice feature to have at nights when you and the better half are relaxing. It really helps to create a nice environment for living. Which is what it’s all about anyway right. One can also easily swap the fixtures for soft white light as well. As for the tape light, man what an...

2017 Big Country with Big Problems

I hate to feel that all campers are made as fast as possible and shoved out the door, but its true. We are relatively young, mid 30’s and bought our first travel trailer about 5 years ago. We have since upgraded to a 5th wheel as the family grew over that time. I have had the belly off my...

    New easy lighting upgrade

Hey all, been a while but figured I would stop in and share my latest upgrade. Since we are swamped with negative equity in the 5’r and cant sell it for an upgrade, I have decided to start on some upgrades that we should’ve had, had we not settled in the first placed. I recently installed...

    Broken galley pipe

So Home Depot around me does NOT carry ABS. Nor does a Ferguson..or Southern Pipe and Supply, the local hardware store, or Lowe’s for that matter. So I used PVC and universal sealer. Painted it black and presto. Would never know. Of course I didn’t think to take any pics to share. Well, we’ll...

    Broken galley pipe

Our drain pipe that is coming from the galley, underneath the camper must have frozen and cracked over the last cold snap. Just this afternoon, I pulled it out of storage (back yard) and ran all the preliminary checks. Well I noticed it was leaking just before the external dump valve where it...

    Kentucky Bourbon Trail

I cant wait to put this together. It's going to be a blast I think. We have also never travelled that far north and we hear the country is beautiful. Definitely going to plan it for a fall trip.

    Relief vent on roof...

I agree. I haven't tested that yet but I will. It wouldn't surprise me one bit. I love our camper but the Prowler is obviously a base model and thrown together.

    Relief vent on roof...

That's the one! So I should probably just leave this be then huh? I wonder if there is another one on the opposite end..and I can add a small fan so there is a slight forced air flow...Just me over engineering things as usual.

    Kentucky Bourbon Trail

This is great info! I know what you mean, I was looking at the Knob Creek website and was getting thirsty myself! The in laws are wrapping up a month long trip and heading into Shepherdsville to stay. Then they may go down to Clermont and visit Jim Beam. I'm sure I'll get some stories. I'm...

    Relief vent on roof...

A few weeks ago, while treated the roof and noticed a toilet type vent towards the front of the rig. I took it off and noticed the hole goes straight into the "plenum" that would be the air path the AC unit pressurizes. Is this some kind of pressure relief vent? Im thinking of closing it up...

    Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Mornin' ladies and gents, we are thinking of setting up a Bourbon Trail experience centered around Loretto Kentucky. I would love to visit the Knob Creek distillery and others. We live in Ga and would spend a week for this trip. Any routes, personal experiences and shared knowledge would be...

Ok so tired of 5'r rocking

What's a good way to eliminate rocking when moving about in the camper. I have seen hardware that cross attaches each front jacks. Is this the way to go? I know I can google this but I appreciate personal experience. That's why I'm a Heartland Owners member.

    Rear roof ladder's?

You all have good points. I think Ill just get one of those extendable ladders and not bother with putting holes in our camper. Seems it would just be another failure point. Thanks for the input!

Best gel coat and FG wax

What are you guys using to protect the nose gel coat and the rest of the fiberglass trailer. Im looking for something to use twice a year or so to wax on and keep everything in great condition.

    Vent covers

Hey guys, on our Prowler we have 3 vent-line vents and Im looking for vent covers to put on them. I recently ordered and received MaxxAir II vent covers but realized the brackets wont work because the vent lines have integrated mounts as if to bolt up one of their own vent covers. I am having...

    Water pump loud

I found I was having the same issue. I ordered a pump silencing kit (amazon 2 hose kit) and an expansion tank pre pressurized at 30psi and is adjustable (all on amazon prime). After installing both of these I found the pump not only cycled 50%less but was at least 75% more quiet. Both the...

    Water pump strainer/filter

Yup, same pump and same problem we had this winter. We're in GA and our winters seem to keep getting milder and milder so I haven't by any means winterized. The strainer bowl cracked and even the aerator in the kitchen sink blew out one cold snap. I ordered a new one ( strainer) on Amazon for...

Golf cart with a non toy hauler 5er

The trailer idea is the easiest for sure, but I dont want to have to deal with it when we get somewhere. Not every campground has "storage" space. Also, backing up is a no-go. Im not terribly worried about any warranty coverage...or so called. When it was brand new no one would touch the...

Golf cart with a non toy hauler 5er

Factory specs for a club car precedent electric is 909lbs. Mine is lifted with larger wheels and tires and a rear seat with other electronics. So we're reaching 1000lbs. I believe it's certainly not something that could or should be supported by fabricating something off the frame alone. I'll...

Golf cart with a non toy hauler 5er

That sounds about right. On their website they said it's not a good idea to use it for electric carts, that it's right at the maximum weight limit. Not sure yet what route were going to go.

Golf cart with a non toy hauler 5er

I think the swivelwheel 58DW with the 6' extension will be my best bet. Price really isn't to bad. Plus is isn't considered a trailer, but an extension of the camper. It will have lights as well which are required for anything 48" past the end of your rig anyway. only problem is my cart is...

Golf cart with a non toy hauler 5er

There are many places wed like to take it. Not just once a year. I am a very capable fabricator and I am thinking of adding to the frame to install a platform that would fold away. I'd have to do some load and fulcrum calculations but it would be much different than mounted motorcycle carriers.

Golf cart with a non toy hauler 5er

Last year we went to Disneyworld with a travel trailer and we put our golf cart in the back of the truck. We upgraded to a 5th wheel and wed like to take it again this year. Anyone have ideas on how we could do that? Mods? Trailers? Thanks!

Fresh water tank slipped, now has a bulge in bottom

Hey guys we just got back and settled from our weekend trip. The new setup worked perfectly. Good as gold. I just have to not let the other two tanks ever get that full. For the record I don't travel with a full fresh water tank, I was in the process of cleaning all of them. Capt7383, I went...

Fresh water tank slipped, now has a bulge in bottom

I was able to take everything back so that the tank was completely exposed. I reset the tank back into place and added 4 new 3/16" flatbars across for support, (I happened to have some laying around). It looks much better. Replaced great stuff where needed. Glad I am finished.

Fresh water tank slipped, now has a bulge in bottom

Hey Jim, thanks for your reply. I'm just wondering if I could get to the right person, something could be worked out to fix the issue. It's as easy as adding a few more inches to the flat bar tank belly supports and using #12 screws to fasten the to the opposite side of the crossmember. I see...

    Slide out "squeegee" catches...

So surrounding the slide outs there is a curtain that acts as a sweep to keep water and debris out. To make sure it "sweeps" the right way and doesn't get hung up only one way, there are a few 6" strips of rubber that act as a ridge to flip the curtain the right way as the slide goes in or out...

Fresh water tank slipped, now has a bulge in bottom

This happened just tonight as I filled the fresh water tank for our trip out tomorrow. The plastic belly pan bulged and the washers all but pulled out through the belly where they screw to the frame. The culprit was the tiny #8 screws they used the fasten the flat bar supports to the cross...

    Pests in A/C cowl

Wasps, especially the mud kind are a big nuesance around our place. On my last camper I turned the fan on only to hear and feel a very abnormal vibration. Well you know guessed it they built on one of the blades. There was also a small bird nest in there too. I figured I could screen the...
