How many owners have had their dometic A/C replaced recently due to failure?

Our Dometic bedroom heat pump died after less than 3 hours of operation. Cause was a defective seized compressor. The service tech commented that he has replaced several, and the most common cause, in his experience, was defective, thin walled tubing. I feel better with the 2 year warranty...

    Edge M18 Winterizing

I will take a guess that the pump/winterizing hose is under the bed in a compartment. If you see a square compartment when the bed is raised, take the top off. This was how our M22 was set up.

    Farewell

Even though you are not a Heartland owner, I would suggest stopping by the forum on a regular basis. In my opinion it is, by far, the finest forum in the industry, from being well moderated to offering a ton of great advice that is relevant to most RV issues. Our first travel trailer was an...

ATF: Landmark - Smoke coming out of grill above pantry

I will bet on a loose connection on one of the main breakers. Once a year I take the cover off the breaker box (after pulling the plug at the campground power post) and tighten each breaker connection screw. I also tighten any connections on the 12 volt side. On a previous coach I found the main...

    3M Command Strips

The Command strips indicate "wall side", which would possibly indicate a different adhesive is on each side of the strip. Is it possible that the strip was applied "backward" to the hook plate causing the wrong adhesive side to stick to the wall surface?

Dometic AC issues on 2014 key largo

Our bedroom Dometic HP lasted less than 6 months. Full timing in Victoria, BC you can imagine how little the unit has been run since delivery in January. The repair tech advised me that in his opinion the newer Dometic units are built to fail. He mentioned light gauge refrigeration tubing...

    2015 Dodge and TPMS

When I had my 2014 3500 DRW in for an oil change last week, I was informed of a tech bulletin regarding changing out the sensors. Of course none are in stock, so I am waiting for a call when they are received at the dealership. My guess is that the replacements are due to crappy, unreliable...

    Cracked Mirror Closet Door

We had the same thing happen to our sliding mirrored door. I took the door off the track and took it to a glass shop. They had the glass replaced in a day. I seem to remember it costing around $100. Make sure that they use a mirror with a non shatter backing on it.

    Garbage Disposal

Both the black and grey water tanks have a tank wash system. Of all the "Full-timer" extras included in the coach, I would probably miss the garbage disposal the least. Perhaps if we had one in our stick and brick home we would use it more, or at all.

    Spin cycle shake

We find that with our 2100XC, the unit will try a few times to get the spin balanced. We will grt a strong shake for a few seconds, then it will rebalance the load, sometimes a couple of times until there is very little shake. Do you find that the shaking is worse when the washer is loaded to...

Battery required in circuit for tow vehicle????

I would start by checking to see whether the tow vehicle is providing 13.5 volts to the battery when running. We went for two years not knowing that the truck was not charging the house battery, simply because we never dry camped for longer than a desperate night on a Mal*wart parking lot. It...

    RV Amateur Radio

I use a Comet CHA250B vertical attached to the ladder by an extension pole. I find that the antenna, coupled with an LDG tuner works well. I also have a Buddipole that I use when I have enough space around the site. Any antenna will be a compromise, but I find the Comet very satisfactory. I...

Looking at a "new" leftover 2013 Elkridge Express E30

Our previous coach was one that sat on the dealer's lot for more than a year. The dealer was motivated to sell it, as should your dealer. I expressed concern with the age of the tires, and negotiated for the dealer to replace the tires with Michelin LT tires. Tires were one thing I never had to...

Newbie Needs Advice on pulling BIG 33 foot North Trail Travel Trailer w/ Excursion Diesel

We had excellent results with a Reese anti sway WD hitch system. For your brake controller, be sure to spec a proportional system, like a Tekonsha. The cheaper units use a system based on timing, rather than how much braking that you are applying. We had good results with a Tekonsha Prodigy, but...

Diesel exhaust smell in 2014 Dodge 2500

Good Dealer - Bad Dealer - Camping World

Best places to go during the Summer

Our favourite town is Astoria, OR. at the mouth of the Columbia river. Said to be the oldest town west of the Rockies. Fort Stevens state park south of town is wonderful. TIPS for reducing pin weight/overall weight 1000 lbs Cyclone 3100

A suggestion in a previous thread that REALLY hit home for me was to remove anything that you haven't used in 6 months. Taking my Heartland Edge to Canada and Alaska in June - Advice and suggestions?

We enjoyed our M-22 while being pulled with a Buick Enclave, so I think we are within the same towing ballpark. Dave, keep an eye on the lower drivers side corner of your rad. Ford has a known issue with rad leaks, always at this same location. The drip will be caught on the inside bumper lip. Ford F-250/350 or Ram 2500/3500

Two weeks ago we had our coach booked in at the factory for a week of warranty repairs. This required us to stay in a motel for 4 nights. How many problems are "normal" for a new trailer?

Ceecee99, perhaps a reply from someone that owns a SOB will help bring some perspective. Our first coach was a Heartland. 2010 Edge M21 Very dissapointed - water leak!

it was the first rainy night that we spent in our Edge that made us realize that the slide roof had no angle away from the coach wall. Water Pump Problems

Seeing as the second bump behaved the same as the first one, with no trace of foreign material in it, I would also suspect a power supply issue. Front stabilizer leg crank

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

I think you made a great choice with the Michelins. Before taking delivery of our current coach, I had the dealer switch the tires to Michelin XPS. I understand that any brand of tire may have problems, but I think the chances are far less with a non-offshhore brand. From my 24 years of long...

Edge no longer made. Would you still buy one?

We had our Edge M22 for two years before moving to a 5th. I can tell you, hands down, that the Edge was a well built, trouble free trailer. We had absolutely no major problems whatsoever.
