Gear Pack

Any one else come across this problem in the picture with this gear pack.
It looks to me like the gear pack mounting is welded on the angle, making it hard to remove the front bolt even when I jacked up the rack to take the weight of the gear and white wheels.
The reason for removal is to adjust the slide out which is out of wack because of skipped teeth.
This side is out of adjustment ref fig4 page 17 Lippert's spec sheet.
I was looking to move the bolt holes up and down to line them up meanwhile keeping tolerances then the bushing holes.

Second picture is of tearing the waterproofing I pulled down the wipe and see alloy what's the reason for it there.
den.

Pretty sure that sheet metal is there to keep the seal from being sucked into the rollers on the slide as it retracts. I had the same thing on my big horn. After a while that sheet metal bent too far inward, and the seal was getting pulled in as the slide went in.... and it actually tore the lip seal in one spot. I occasionally bend those tabs out to keep the clearance opened up.
