DELAYED EMAIL DELIVERY: 2013 Goshen Rally
Erika - We received an email about 5:00 am this morning saying that registration would be open open to everyone late Friday afternoon. The email came from 'clubmgr' but was signed by Jim. Maybe it's in your spam? Actual registration is only open to Moderators and Chapter leaders at this point...so that they can ensure that all kinks are worked out before inviting everyone else to register. Does that answer your question?
Okay - here's what's happening...
vBulletin is the software used for the forum. It has a built-in email system/email server. Recently, vBulletin implemented a mail queue system in the email process. What this does is dribble out the emails over a longer period of time. This was implemented so that other email servers (i.e. Yahoo, Gmail etc.) don't look at our mail server as a spammer and put us on a black list. Trouble with this is that the mail is s-l-o-w-l-y delivered.
So - what we're doing instead, for Goshen Rally Registration emails is we've created 4 mailing lists (Regional Directors, Chapter Leaders, Wagonmasters and All Club Members). Then, we're using the Club's Gmail address to send Goshen Rally Registration email out. I believe this is working well. We sent notes last night to RDs and CLs, asking them to register now. They in turn register and give us feedback on the process so we know if we're good to go to send to all members or not.
